1:31:40 In a sequence lasting 4 seconds: 1. Drops controller (presumably from how sweaty his hands are) 2. Makes face that people make when losing balance or falling 3. Leans down to retrieve controller, but then goes “But I wanna see what happens” and just stares at the screen like he’s watching someone else’s stream 4. Reacts like he himself got stabbed by Margit when attacked 5. Then remembers he was playing and it’s his stream “oh my god what am I doing?” That’s pure Jerma

i thought it went a bit more like 1. thinks he got killed 2. drops his controller in sheer weakness and frustration (like a knight who drops his blade when he realizes his comrades were slain and is just letting the dragon take him) 3. realizes he's still alive and scrambles to pick up his sword again 4. Impaled 5. "oh my GOD what am i doing ???"

Very few bosses in only certain playstyles are actually enjoyable. Magic is ez and boring, bulky hit trading eventually becomes impossible, standard builds with no specialization don't have anything to really fight the boss, and the challenge runs are the ones people learn to enjoy the bosses with because then its a rhythm game. Other than that the bosses are a little clunky, so off the design of dark souls that old habits kill you, and little in the way of telling the player important mechanics like poise breaks will be in more bosses since it tends to be more rewarding to sit back and wait for an opening if you can't learn the attack rhythm or don't have a weapon to keep up with poise regen.

@@limerumpus3589 Margit/Morgott's delay trick still feels somewhat scummy (since playing on souls players reaction times feels more like the game itself meta-gaming and no one really enjoys playing against meta-gamers). The only actual coincidence about that is that the baby rattle he found late game encompassed the exact niche build he talked about since he grabbed the first flail he found. Other then that, it's less a prediction and more of a planned outcome. He literally stated his intention to stick with a sorcery + dex build multiple times in the beginning.

@Todomo Yup. I've heard it explained as the intent being that you would rate a message as poor if it was misleading and you were actually tricked by it. Like, "darn you for being so clever, but here's a reward for getting one over on me." Of course, in practice, the messages that will trick a player are always just "invisible path ahead" and the guy will roll once and instantly disprove it. Not exactly a clever trick

Imagine the different tone to the whole series if he had just explored more of limgrave and it's optional bosses before feeling the need to rush storm veil... I think it was a combination of being too used to the previous format of souls games that were more linear in map design and progression, and also the pressure of being judged by some elite council of gamer's that Jerma thinks exist in his audience. A.K.A the voices in his head. Oh and also the potential backseat gamers in chat being more likely to spoil content if he didn't rush to get to it first. Anyway I think it would've been real neat to see him play a more laid back completionist run, where he just grinded through all the regional quests, dungeons, and optional bosses. Maybe summon a friend or a "one guy" chatter every once in a while. Sure it might've resulted in him being over prepared for storm veil, but it would've felt more balanced for him and more fun for chat. **wipes tear** but it's just a wistful fantasy now

@@GenghisGunt some people just like to antagonize, and a lot of the clips will probably highlight jerma arguing with chat. If chat was the worst part, then why would jerma make the interactive streams? Chat is an integral part of twitch streaming, and it allows for creators to see the live reception of their content, and that feedback is valuable. Jerma does bits with new viewers and raids, trying to lie to them, and chat returns that energy. It's a give and take, where he gets a lot of goofy ideas from chat. I wonder why you watch what is, essentially, an edited vod if you don't like that jerma interacts with chat. Also, jerma relied entirely on chats help for mohg

Literally every single streamer that I’ve seen play this game failed to realize that the pouch exists and used the quick item bar for the horse whistle until their chat inevitably told them the correct way to do it. I know it’s a meme but streamer brain is absolutely a thing, even for one as treasured as Jerma. My man literally read the entire tutorial message about the pouch yet spent the next dozens of hours not using the pouch. But hey, at least he read the tutorial message… most streamers don’t know how to read.

@@kiba_the_lucky I took a quick look at the wiki, and medium shields get 2 parry frames and have a longer delay and recovery, whereas small shields get 5 frames. The buckler also has 5 parry frames but it has slightly less delay and a slightly longer recovery. So yeah, you're right about the buckler being the best one, but small shields are much better than medium. Interesting side note: if you put the storm wall ash of war on a medium shield, it will have the exact same parry stats as a small shield with the added bonus of being able to repel arrows, so that's neat I guess.

Watching this for the first time since catching the original streams live and I'm losing my mind with how much he keeps dodging left into Godrick's attacks. It feels like I've been watching him roll directly into the axe attacks for an hour straight, but the timestamp says I'm only halfway through the boss fight. Fantastic edit so far, really captures Jerma's manic vibes. Thanks for all your hard work!

it's because he like, for some reason, is horrid at separating whats on the screen from reality. he jumps and leans around with the character on screen, he is genuinely bewildered when someone tells him to not strangle the controller- at some point he even thought he was hit in the eye by a bosses attack. he's either plugged into the mainframe, or hes lost it

Dude relishes in emulating the pleas for mercy of the npcs he savagely murders with a raw slab of iron, as he thinks their actual reactions aren't close enough to the real thing. He has powerful recurring urges to kill every character in the screen of any game, as he can't readily get someone real into a chokehold, and the screen suffices. For now.
