People, you gotta realize that not just because they're animals they can be released into the wild whenever you want. An animal that has been raised as a pet hardly ever knows how to rely on their natural instincts. I'll have you know that if you ever just dumped a pet on the streets thinking 'it's fine, it's an animal, they know what to do' you've most likely just sent your pet to their death
@faizatutun9942

Thank you! This is what I have been talking about. I know these people mainly have good intentions by saying these animals should be released back in the wild, but they almost never got the opportunity to develop such instincts due to them being in a protected environment! If they go back, they have high chances of not surviving, so what's better? Letting them out or keeping them inside somewhere where they will be fed, protected and cared after 24/7? Hope more people see your comment because it's 100% correct!

@@bjs301You're very likely right, but they can show a sense of comfort towards humans whose scent and touch they know and trust. They also do have personalities; there are those snakes who prefer strict solitude to limited interaction, and those who will seek out human contact over those who won't. I've owned snakes, and while I can say I never felt they were "loving," there was one male snake I cared for who preferred human contact. He had a heat lamp, was well-fed, was at ease in his enclosure, and yet when I opened his enclosure in the mornings, he'd want to curl up on my lap over all other options available to him. He lived to a ripe, old age, but he never tired of our morning routine until the day he passed.
@bjs301
@bjs301 2 жыл бұрын
@@benh9784 Sure, I've owned similar snakes. Thinking the supposed preference for human contact is based on any sense of attraction or affection is simply nonsense. Your male had a heat lamp. I wonder if he'd have still sought you out if he had a heat pad to lay on. Or maybe you used an irritating substrate. Catch a species of climbing snake, and it'll spend all day trying to climb up on you. I find it preferable to try to understand animals on their own terms, rather than naively thinking they simply behave the way I want them to behave.

Even though it was a tame snake abandoned by its owners, with how she suffered one would still expect her to be defensive. Especially the way she was pulled out of her hiding place. Yeah ball pythons are one of the most docile snakes you can own. You can pick ones up in the wild like this and theyll just wrap into a ball without fighting. Its when thier baby thier more hostile but even then they calm down. Had mine since she was a baby and shes never striked at me. She’s really sweet unless your a rat lol. Very misunderstood creatures, and they all have different personalities like any animal.

Don´t listen to these snake fanatics. It was a tame snake and obviously too weak from the bloodsucking ticks to strike at anything even if it wanted to, and by the time it had regained its strength it had realized the people where not a threat. I dare you to try to pull a wild healthy python from its lair like that nutjob above suggested. Even Steve Erwin got bit like 100 times by snakes during his career from picking them up in that crazy enthusiastic way he always did.

@@MisterHeroman Not in the slightest. The idea of putting a snake in water to help it shed is mostly outdated, and they definitely do not need soap unless it's specifically made for the species and the snake has wounds. You can put a snake in a tub with a lid and air-holes and a shallow amount of warm water (nothing as deep as in the video) for about twenty minutes (some people put a rock in there for the snake to sit on so it doesn't get too stressed) and then you should be able to peel the shed right off. :)

(This is a tad bit long) Thank you so much for doing that. It warms my heart to see someone who cares enough about a snake to rescue one with so many medical conditions. That lady obviously did no research and probably bought her snake and everything else from a chain pet store. (Ex. Petco or Petsmart) The employees at one of those pet stores will tell you the wrong information about snakes, and they'll recommend that heat rock. Maybe she wasn't wanting to abuse the poor snake and just didn't do any research for the poor thing. I know so many people who would say that snakes are spawns of the devil and that he deserved all that. Of course, that's not true lol. Again, I appreciate what you did for the little guy, he didn't deserve all that happened to him. I'm getting myself a female ball python soon so this really makes me feel good seeing people caring about other ball pythons! Sorry this is so long, and thanks for reading this. God bless you.

I used to be afraid of snakes, but a friend persuaded me to get a ball python with her and I'm not afraid anymore! Ball pythons (like the one in the video) are very sweet and docile! They ball up when they're afraid, which is how they got their name. I highly recommend ball pythons for those who are afraid of snakes! Also they aren't very bright and there's no way one born in captivity would survive in the wild.

Years ago, I was left to care for a ball python after the owner moved out and left (him?) behind. Snakes aren't really my jam, but no living creature deserves to be abandoned and not cared for. So, I named him Wheels. I went to the library (the internet was a little baby then), and borrowed a few books on python care. Off to the pet shop I went, and quickly got over my fear of rodents, snakes and then feeding rodents to snakes. I knew that reptile parent wasn't in my cards, but it bought me enough time to research and find a specialty herp/reptile store in town that I could donate Wheels to. We spent a month together -- had some mice and shed some skin. I remember the time he pooped (thought my cat had somehow got in the tank and did it. It was HUGE!! ;) And to think I could have just taken him outside and left him under a tree 🧐🤦😡 Luckily, this beauty was found in time by people who honor her place in this world. May she live a long happy and healthy life 😁

Yeah imagine if someone would try to approach a dog, lots of teeth that will rip through your flesh and tear you up and give you diseases. And then their natural instincts of hunting to continue attacking you as you lay down until you don't move anymore.
