It's interesting, even at my re-beginner stage, how thinking a bit about theory as relates to the fretboard (e.g., parsing voicings, starting to learn various triad patterns, close listening to good performances by others) sometimes comes out as just your fingers gaining better intuition even when not sitting there "thinking about theory". I feel like this video is good for being explicit about that useful weirdness I'm trying to describe, relating theory and playing.

Nice guitar and video. I had a Washburn HB35 a few years back, lovely guitar and same colour as your Gibson. However I sold it, since it was a bit too big and uncomfortable. I have a metal screw and bolt in my shoulder, since I dislocated it many times!! Ouch!!!! But since the operation over 10 years ago it hasn't dislocated since.

Is that an ES-390 with a P-90? I'm not sure there were 339 made with P-90's. Nice guitar, seems more comfortable to play then the 335. I wish I was able to mute strings like that. Thanks, Tomo.

Are you playing the Bb major scale (or major pentatonic) over all of the chord changes or are you playing Eb and F scales over the Eb and F chords?

I just stumbled across your channel and I get the idea that you may not want to answer this question, but perhaps you can point me in the right direction. First, I have been playing for a LONG time (longer than you have been alive, for sure) and I am "OK". But when you start talking about 'root, third, seventh" I have NO IDEA what you mean (I never took lessons). Where do you think someone like me should go to learn these things? As always...great lesson. Btw, I’m still confuse on how to practice using metronome. For example, do i need to hit the note during the click or after the click sound? In this example, you hit the first note after the click sound. Then, when practising speed using metronome...maybe for example alternate picking using scale, 8th/16th notes, etc.....i do not know if i’m still following the metronome or not especially when the BPM increasing.. Do you have lesson on how to use metronome in a correct way? Thank you sensei

I like all Tomo's vids. But this one didn't really help me understand more deeply how you solo better over chords. I know theory well, but just can't get to soloing over different chords with confidence. I can do simple I-IV-V, but just can't break into the next level. Where I come from we call it "trackin' the chords".
