Barbara Montes May I ask what a "sleeve" is? I am curious by nature about medical things. *smiles* Also best of luck to you. I am getting a CT scan done Friday night to see what is going on in my sinus cavities and neck.

about the complications you had. Keep in mind that Fibromyalgia and your other Neuro disease are also immunodeficient ones and we get infections and complications at times with any surgery. I had my top teeth removed and I had a big complication where I hemorrhaged and it scared the crap out of me and my dental hygienist. The surgeon even put sutures and a layer of dissolving gauze with another row of stitching so I would not bleed out. It was such a freak complication and I feel that what you went through was the same. Simply a freak incident you can't really pinpoint how you got so sick. I am so happy for you and also happy of how supportive you primary doctor is. It always boosts the moral when our doctors listen and support us in our decisions. I have got to get help with this dang foot. I have build up of calouse from being on my toes all the time and it hurts so much. LOL I am starting to try to get out of walking on my toes habit but it will be long and hard. LOL Love you girl! This was a great video. xo

I know you are right Moriganna. Plus this was a very common complication. Gosh what you went through!!! I don't think I'd ever go to the dentist again, lol! Love you too lady!

@@MrsMelissaM The funny thing is I am deathly afraid of Dentist yet with all of the 10's of surgeries I have had I trust them enough to go back. I am going to go in to get fit and evaluated for dentures. Then I can chew crunchy crispy food like raw veggies. I can't chew anything unless it is soft or mushy. LOL

You’re so brave having the surgery. I’m in the uk and refused surgery and did it by myself. Took 6 years to lose 215 pounds. Over half my body weight. Started with a BMI of 57. Today it’s at 31. Still got 50 pounds to go! You look beautiful!

I couldn't be happier for you. You look wonderful! I had a full face/neck lift about 12 years ago in Thailand. Friends and family thought I was nuts to do that. Like you I had researched it to death, met my surgeon online and had a virtual tour of the amazing hospital I was going to. There were no complications and I was thrilled with the results and I didn't pay more than approx $4000 for the entire face neck upper and lower eyelids. And we had a great vacation afterwards. I'd do it again in a heartbeat. Medical tourism is real but as you say research research research. All the best Melissa, I love your spirit!!

What a great video! So open and helpful. My daughter is considering the surgery in fact she has a consultation in Scottsdale in the next few weeks. She is very fortunate her insurance does cover the procedure. Her dad, my first husband, died unexpectedly at 64 two weeks ago of hypertension. It really was a wake up call for her and her health. I can’t wait to share this video with her. So happy to see you happy 👍♥️. Hugs from Az 🤗

Very interesting..I so can relate to two things you mentioned...I am on Keto and my husband isn’t, I cook him regular meals so I do understand the mental aspect of retraining myself to not want his food. Also, my body is a road map of stretch marks and saggy boobs! I got my first stretch mark at 4 months pregnant...no elasticity at all. I have a husband that loves me for me and it doesn’t bother him so I don’t think I will ever have skin removed. Having said that...at 62 and losing this weight..my skin is different and I am noticing a lot more of the crepey skin. But hubby has it too! lol we’re getting old. Love you and I am enjoying watching your success! You look amazing!

You’re spot on about your concept of food and it’s role in our lives. You’re way ahead of the game by realizing and educating yourself, getting counseling, etc. That was sorely lacking in my experience. It was my downfall. Sad, in my experience. Perfect surgery but poor recovery due to what you’ve mentioned. Also make sure you get a lot of B 12 via injection and sublingual. So important. That’s a lifetime focus as well!. Take good care. Love you! 💕😘🌼

Melissa you look wonderful! I am so happy that you are doing well. Thank you for answering so many of our questions and being so open and honest about your surgeries and after care. I have 3 questions: 1. was your emergency surgery covered by your insurance? 2. What kind of and format (i.e. pills, chewables, liquids, etc.) of vitamins and minerals are you taking? 3. Were these vitamins/minerals recommended by the surgeon/clinic in Mexico or your personal physician here in the states or something you researched on your own? Thanks! Love ya gf.
@MrsMelissaM
@MrsMelissaM 5 жыл бұрын
Hi dear, to answer your questions...yes my surgery in the states was covered 80%. The vitamins are required by the doctor, at first I was only on chewables or I had to crush them, now I'm on just a regular capsule pill. I take them morning and night. If you are interested in knowing what they are, you can email me or DM me on facebook or Instagram! Luv you too! xo

I had my gastric bypass done 6 plus years ago. I had diabetes, heart disease, and pulmonary hypertension. I was also one month away from turning 66. Because of my health issues, my insurance ( Medicare) paid for my surgery. In fact, insurance companies are paying for more people to have this surgery than ever before if they have any of the obesity related diseases. I am still following most of the diet and have added more foods to my diet. I drink the occasional diet ginger ale, maybe once a month. I prefer seafood and chicken as beef and pork are still hard to digest. The doctor said that was typical. I’m careful about fatty foods as they still can make me nauseous. I love pasta, but it still makes me feel bloated, so I eat it rarely. Yes, the skin sags and I would love to have surgery, but at almost 73, probably won’t waste the money. I did have a fair hair loss and it has never come back to what it was. I do relate some of that to age as well as the surgery. I only wish I had done this years ago. Two of my sisters and a cousin have had this all with the same doctor. If you are considering this and have any health problems, this could be the biggest help you could give yourself.

I'm so glad I found you! I live in Canada..I suffer from hypothyroidism, severe depression and trigeminal neuralgia. I've tried every diet under the sun. I lose but then put it all back on plus more. Since having trigeminal neuralgia my weight has gotten completely out of hand. I read the meds can make you gain rapidly. Did this happen to you? How does it affect you after surgery with the meds? I need to loose 115 pounds

you are doing so awesome! i do have a question for you- i am 4 years post op gastric bypass surgery had the surgery in the US i have taken all my vitamins and even had to sign a sheet of a paper saying that i would take my vitamins but still had an iron deficiency to the point that i am now seeing a hematologist, thank God this Dr has lot of knowledge when it comes to gastric bypass patients. do you know of anyone else this has happened to? thanks

Hi Teresa. I haven't heard of that but I know it can happen. Spinach & Chickpeas or garbanzo beans are high in iron. I'm glad you're working with a doctor though.

Thank you for sharing your experience. I'm so glad the bad part is over. You look wonderful, and I'm sure you will hit your goal in no time. Oh, how I can relate to no skin elasticity. I'm small, but weight has nothing to do with it. And I too nursed both girls for a year each. Hanging skin, I've got. Without a bra, I swear I'd step on my boobs!! My mom was the same. She was 5'4, maybe 100lbs, but boy did her skin jiggle. She so kindly passed that gene to me! Be well, my dear friend. Love and hugs❣❤😘🥰

My name is also Melissa M and I am having my surgery on July 1st so in 7 days. I am so excited. I want the gastric sleeve but they said once inside due to previous surgeries said they may have to do the bypass. I am only 60 lbs over weight. And I'm getting so much negative feedback about bypass. Why is this? Has it been really that bad? PS my PCP is against mexico and was saying same thing and sounded like she would be refusing to see me post op ad well.

You look so great! 💖 Thanks for the informative vlog. One other thing how did you get all of your check list of things done before you get your surgery? Did you have to go to Mexico to see the Dr. Before anything happening? Also did you leave that info below for the dr. That did your surgery? I might have passed it up.

Hi Myra, they didn't give a goal for anyone. They just won't operate on someone that has a BMI lower than 30. And once it goes about 55 they really get concerned and the operation is harder on the patient and for the doctor!

Hello Ladybug your looking fantastic. I know you maybe getting some people still not understanding why. But I think you did it for you not anyone else. I had my Gastric Bypass in 2005, I loss a lot of weight very fast. I called my after care team which they had the Dr. call me back. He told me Mrs. Lovett I don"t tell people that I done GBP on to eat Baked Potatoes with lot"s of butter, which really helped a lot. I do drink coke but I sip on them all day and save the rest for later I leave it open until it is flat lol. I do eat sweets ice cream I keep it a just very small bites. I have over ate something that I know is a no no, but this girl had to have what ever I wanted. I have not gained my weight back. i love you my sweet ladybug. your may need to call you my.beautiful butterfly. Because your coming out of your cocoon to become the beautiful Butterfly 😍😍

When I had my done about 18 years ago my insurance here paid for mine. Apparently so many people are having it done insurance figured a way to get out of paying for it. Too bad. I have never regretted it. I will tell you after a while you will be able to eat poorly again so guard against that. I thought I wouldn’t be able to eat again so you will still be faced with temptations.

What is the protein powder that you used that was tasteless? I seriously need one but I just can't tolerate one that is so yucky. I am 4 weeks post-op from my panniculus. This is not a tummy tuck bit I did give up about 10 lbs of excess skin and even my navel. I also had Lipo in the upper part of stomach. My husband said good God woman he cut you half into. He did get some of my muscles back and tightened up so I'm looking forward to starting Body Groove as soon as he gives me the go. Check it out here on KZbin. It's Misty Tripoli. Long comment. So glad you are doing well and waiting for a new video. Love & prayers. Sue

Hi my beautiful friend! You were talking about how your family eats what they want yet are still supportive of you, so in the same vein, this will make you laugh, I hope! My husband who is naturally thin can pretty much eat what he wants and not gain weight. Darn him! I’ve seen this man eat a hamburger in two or three bites but when it comes to taking an ibuprofen, he turns into a pill smashing maniac!! Seriously, you know how small a typical ibuprofen tablet is and it’s hilarious what he goes through to make sure that it is powder-like. I literally can’t stop laughing when he goes through these machinations! I just look at him and tell him that it’s a good thing that men don’t have to birth children. War yes, birthing no. 😂. People are funny!
