I'm 32 and just went back to school. I wasn't focused on my education when I was younger and now I am more motivated. Looking forward to growing my portfolio. You are never too old

I worked full-time while going to college online. It was tough for me to develop the self-discipline, but in the end was worth it. The last 2 positions that I've held have had a strict requirement of at least a 4-year degree.

Boom, thanks for proving my point! And thanks for watching!

yeah that's why I'll work part time and full time school to get that 4 year degree!

I work full time and go to school full time and I work part time at my school in the IT department. To add to that I have 3 kids. So it can be done.

I literally almost lost my mind. Working full time and going to school I honestly would recommend to work part time .

Thank you so much for these videos, William! I have an interview tomorrow for a part-time (believe it or not haha) I.T. Support job and I also go to school part-time working towards a Bachelor's in Business Administration with a concentration in Information Systems. I hope to be an IT Manager, Systems Administrator, or Systems Analysts one day. I've watched almost all of your videos and they have helped immensely to better understand the industry and to develop the confidence that it takes to be successful in this field. You've helped me more than you know!
@learnitfromwilliam6 жыл бұрын
Wow, thanks so much for the kind works and I'm so glad the videos have helped. How did the interview go?
@heavymetalrookie61866 жыл бұрын
The interview went well and there was talk of me starting on Monday. Unfortunately, my school schedule doesn't align with the hours they'd like me to work. The search continues, but I'm confident that if I don't quit I'll eventually find something that's right for me. Thank you again William, and I look forward to learning from your past videos as well as those in the future!

Just to follow up, I kept applying and landed a part-time IS Support Internship near my school! With the offer they've made, I'll be making almost twice as much as I was at my last job as a front desk receptionist! Thanks for your help again, William. I hope you are pleased and encouraged to know that a large part of why I got the position is because of the advice from your videos. And to anyone who dreams of working in IT: DON'T GIVE UP! I hope my experience inspires you all as well.

Okay there is no excuse. I dig it. But what about when you have 2 kids who already complain you work too much and with whom you only spend 2 hours per night 5 days a week and one day every other weekend. I would literally lose all of that time with them to attend school. I can’t figure out what is better, barely parent my children and get an education or keep working a dead end job that pays my bills.
@learnitfromwilliam3 жыл бұрын
That’s a difficult situation to be in. I have two kids as well so I empathize with you. How about online classes that you can attend at night after the kids are asleep? Or online self paced classes.
@kasandramckenna62213 жыл бұрын
Yes I have seriously considered online it would be the only way. Unfortunately I have to work very early mornings most days so I am thinking about taking a pretty deep pay cut to get a job with more flexibility. No decisions are perfect ones. A different job title might not be the most beneficial to my resume, particularly in the industry I’m in (retail) but always feeling stuck without higher education isn’t getting getting me where I want to go either. thanks for replying!

Hello again so I've been working as a technician for about 5 months now and all of a sudden my co workers have become very hostile when i ask questions they ignore me i come in early and leave when i am supposed too but management is two faced and they ignore me like im not there anymore. as a matter of fact i fear for my job every day i go in. They just sighed me on full time and are paying me a dollar less than my other IT job. I needed some help with an Outlook question and the manager ignored me for a weeks straight. what should i do I got an offer from HP but turned them down i feel like i should have taken it even though it was 5 more dollars an hour but ended up not taking it because part of the deal was i would go full time after school started . Other reviews on indeed conclude what i am going though a lot of management and co workers do become hostile. I got NO prior training and have had to fend for myself pretty fiercely that last couple of months I feel like i am annoying and nobody really provides steps to solving a problem. I only ever hear about how bad i did and they never keep me in the loop about anything also they ignore me when i try to talk to them now. its like something changed, they say "not my barrel of monkeys" or other things like that its getting really frustrating and i am sick of it but its good experience on my resume and other places are starting to reach out to me.

Hiya! Find another place to work. That sounds like a shithole full of unhappy ppl. When you start interviewing and they ask why you’re looking, explain the same thing you did to me.

Hello i come to you yet again with another question my man ! I need to work on my soft skills basically one of my managers ripped me a new one the other day because i left someone on the phone too long (i was choking on a pretzel i shit you not) and he came in and told me if it happens again im out ! I was a little mad at first but calmed myself down i have a quick temper sometimes. I show up early, work extra, and ask as many questions as i can ! I love my job but hate the management.
@learnitfromwilliam6 жыл бұрын
What's up dude, glad to see you back. Doesn't sound like a soft skills problem. Seems like you should probably not be eating while on the phone as funny as your story is. Can you be more specific as to your question?

I love your videos they help.a lot. Tho i dont do IT my bf does. But your information still. Helps me as well. I work in a salon full of women with a petty boss. She does things out of spite. Im a pretty positive person and try to do my job to the best of my abilities here lately ive had some personal health problems and have had to miss 3 or 4 days in the past 3 months. My boss is being really petty about it she always assumes everyone is lying or hiding something and does everything she can to try to pull.them down. She doesnt communicate her plan for us. She does a lot of weird scheduling and makes plans without letting us know whats going on...today i had to hang up in her face and then called her boss and let him know whats going on...me and several others have had so many problems with her and nothing we do.or say seems to.help...im suppose to talk with her boss monday.. im slightly nervous but i cant take her BS anymore. The pettyness and lack of communication over the last 2 years of working with her has built up and i feel like im.about to explode...

Depends on what you want to do in the industry. It's a broad degree which covers many areas. And why is your profile name "Idont care"?
