To be honest you have to be doing stuff out side of Support rules esp if those skills are not there in thoses. Linux is extremely rare in Desktop Support roles since most places are a Windows shop. The only transferable skilset in Desktop Support that would transferable into a Windows Admin role is Powershell. Help Desk and Desktops Supports only prepares you for more Help Desk and Deskside roles as they don't cover much in Networking either which is what an entry-level NOC Technician Network Technician job is for if you ant to persue Networking For Linux you would need a homelab for that and develop those skills or shadow the Server team that works with Linux esp Red Hat. Most Associate level Certifications like RHCSA, CCNA suggests to have at least a year on the job experience working with the technologies before taking the exam. Certs doesn't help much if you don't have practical hands experience which is what Employers wants.

I would also state that having Linux OS fundamental knowledge is a must especially for enterprise level support. At least that has been my experience with my current first IT role.

I know lots of yt channels on this topic find it hard to answer the side of a legitimate firing... The answer for that is to 1st step is to improve yourself and become a better person while addressing that flaw that got you fired... then the next step is you need character whitenesses that will recommend you to new job prospects, if you have improved they will even tell the prospective employer that you are in better shape and doing well.. Atleast that what i have experienced in my life

Im in my 60’s I thought the job offer was too good to be true. WARNING WARNING To all mature aged workers, for whatever reason you are hired, some companies already have their employment lawyers primed even before you have an interview and even before you walk in the door, and it doesn’t matter what sort of company or business they are. Read the contract very carefully. Some evil companies do not keep records so if you want to take them to court for firing you, you have no evidence against them. Even co-workers are groomed to lie. To some companies older workers are there to be exploited and you are mere garbage to toss out and at the same time when you make an official claim against them, the employment lawyers are shameful liars and vicious attack dogs.

There are alot of states where it doesn’t matter because they are a right to work state. Either way, your point is valid in a lot of cases. Many companies do not care about employees. It’s sad.

You saying you need to know how to write, there is a lower case i in networking, whilst the rest of it is capitalised.
@TheRealJohnMadden
@TheRealJohnMadden Жыл бұрын
That's actually not uncommon. It's similar to how I and l look exactly the same so most people would just do a lowercase i to emphasize it. Even if there is a L to differentiate, you can't put it past people to become confused so by using an i instead of an I it becomes a lot clearer.
@eh4372
@eh4372 Жыл бұрын
@@TheRealJohnMadden so you are telling me you would see NETWORK_NG and that unless the i is lower case you wouldn’t work out the word was networking lol seems like you really stretching to find an excuse here. I mean if someone needed random lower case to read that word than they have no hope Learning actual networking which is more complicated.

My boss was upset I had signed up for a one-person shift. I'll admit, I am much better with a helping hand and guide, but come on, that's no excuse for being insensitive. One of our student leader's responsibilities is organizing who works which shifts on the schedule, and my boss scolded him for not noticing I had signed up for a one-person shift. When she asked him if she thought I could do the shift, I answered for him with a firm "yes," because I felt belittled by her. She said she didn't think so, was all "I've told you not to sign up for shifts by yourself, I've been very clear about that, I don't know how much clearer I can get for you to listen" (something like, that, so I'm not perfectly quoting her), and she told me I need someone there to give me instructions and guide me. I'm mad at myself for not standing up to her. She intimidates me when she's in a bad mood, but still, at the very least, I should've told her "my family always taught me to be self-confident and believe in my abilities," to challenge her to coldly disagree with that. Or if I was feeling really bold and adventurous (while still sounding mellow and respectful), "Well, [name], don't you think that if you're gonna say something like that, you might as well just say I'm incompetent and unintelligent?"

I guit using my degree for 7 years. Never could find anything with my degree, went back to old job. It's all about nepotism, networking is way more important than a degree. That was my downfall, I don't have that. Just go to college to network, don't worry about finishing. It's not really worth it in my opinion, unless you really like it.

I already did all above before this video. Guess what turned around toxic workplace into kicking it in under 2 months of starting the role. Key strategy is: Worst case they will fire me, its their loss not mine, I will get another job or my freedom back but hey they wont be able to find another like me and my work ethics is priceless. Yes managers will get irritated like hell but they you have to keep going to survive.

I got fired from a good paying job just 3 months into it, I admit the skills they required me to do were not in par and I was struggling to meet some tasks. But at the same time, they had me training in this software while an intern was doing part of my responsibilities (which I partly trained him at the request of my manager). Next thing you know, I got a call from HR telling me I was let go. I asked the reason why I was let go but they said, "we are not going into details". The managers did not even have a meeting with me telling me why I was let go without notice.

Haha 😄 my neighbor CUONG shoulda known better! U r still better than my neighbor Cuong! Here's some motivation. U still have some time. U r not 60. My neighbor got fired when he was 50 around christmas 🎄 and his bday! How cursed is that? Take guts to admit u got issues. All humans do. U r not like my neighbor Cuong. He was arrested 2x for his rage against his supervisors! Then he got fired around christmas 2012! Sought revenge and retribution, lost 2 court cases to his employers, & lost thousands of dollars to attorney fees! The misery doesnt stop here. He doesn't go out unless necessary. No job. No vacations. No eating out. Doesn't celebrate any kind of holiday as he lost interest in anything socially-related. Almost no social interactions outside his family. Wife works and cooks for him daily. He has 2 junk cars sitting in his backyard and many other clutters. He also collects cans and bottles to get paid for recycling ♻️. I mean Cuong is a miserable guy who has no real, honest hope in his life anymore! That's 10 years of misery n denial of his major, mental illness conditions. He likes to put up a tough, fake front in front of others, but his pain and agony overpowers him inside. His false pride 😤 is what leads him to self destruction! What a shame. People on this site have more courage than 🐔 Cuong! A failure covers n lies about his issues. That's Cuong. U r definitely a good, useful person in our society!

I am getting my MS in Cyber Security and while I haven't landed anything as of yet, I am getting more traction than I did with my business degree. I agree with you on the certs too. I am planning to get my cert in OSCP which should help me gain even more traction. I don't expect to break in with a six figure salary immediately but I plan to utilize the degree to become a professor too which should give me a competitive salary between the two. You have to be a little bit more creative these days.
