Does space have elastic behavior? If a large object would suddenly disappear, would the curvature of space just get flat in the speed of light, or would it vibrate due to its elasticity, maybe even get negative curvature before it evens out?

a neagative curvature (at some point) would mean a black hole from what i know so far...hm....if the object would disapear i guess it would "vibrate/shake the Tension off from that mass(from the bump in the fabric) and then it would stretch out..

Can gravity in a waveform be used as an 'energy' source to 'drive' something else? can they be used to 'surf' something on, such as another particle?
@Hiosho7 жыл бұрын
interesting but how would u harvest gravity at all..

@@Hiosho I think that is essentially what hydro-electric dams do. The gravitational potential energy of the water gets converted into electricity

I don't see why not! Theoretically it must be possible otherwise ligo wouldn't detect any changes in length. But remember, these gravitational waves that earth and of course, ligo are exposed to, have almost unimaginably small amplitudes....a 1m stick would change by 10 millionth of the diameter of a proton...so there's not much energy to be had unfortunately! We'd need to be a lot closer to a merger to gain anything from it, I think

LIGO can only detect fluctuations in the field, not the gravity waves them self.

Gamma bursts are detected almost every day. The amount of energy in one would mean the source of it has changed mass quite significantly . Look for gravity waves coming from those directions. If gravitational waves travel at "c" they should arrive at same time as the burst. I have a hunch they don't travel at "c", and that's why nobody has noticed this:)

i think that the whole universe might be gravitating towards something because of magnetism or gravitational force but we wouldn’t see this because from our point of view all matter is moving at the same rate? 🤷♂️
@DonaldSleightholme7 жыл бұрын
this might explain particle decay it would still be there but the universe moved 🤔

how is it possible that the earth is over a fabric ...... we can see the stars from everywhere on earth .... from the equator,fron the poles,etc ..... that means that spacetime surrounds earth like a fluid and not a fabric i guess

As far as I am concerned, I am adrift on a sea of ignorance.

Fabric is just another word for structure. Clothing has a fabric which is what we commonly mean when we talk about it, however buildings and other structures also have 'fabric' which is the walls, floor, roofs and so on of the building which provide it structure and make it what it is.

Draczar Besides that Draczar, the fabric is very sheer and transparent.
