I agree with you when you said Honda would be better off with an 8-speed. That's plenty of gears.
@sdalexander8505Күн бұрын
I like the 9 speed in the Ridgeline. Slow to shift with paddles, but the shifts seem intelligent. You have to think ahead of it, like driving a manual. Pretty much is an 8 speed in Drive since it doesn’t use 1st unless in “S”

@@sdalexander8505 the zf9 gets a lot of hate for no reason tbh. It’s much more reliable than the 6at from Honda although it does some whacking shifting as well at times.

@@BCautosolutions I dunno about a DCT in an SUV, maybe a car. Lot of complaints on the Hyundai forum on the way their DCT-8 shifts in the Santa Fe.....of course that's Hyundai. lol

The 10AT is mot the first time where Hondas have some unconventionality that gets mistaken as perceived unreliability. It’s similar to the I-MMD hybrids from before Honda programmed fakes shifts where it revs at redline, the K series with VTC that rattle during cold start, and the 2015-16 CRVs that vibrated at a stop. It’s understandable that new drivers would not expect these and sometimes it can make the drivers uncomfortable, but none of these are signs that the component in question will fail.

Just had fluid done on my 10AT 2021 Accord last month, about 35k miles, shifts are a tad softer now and seems a bit "confused", especially when cold, not sure if it's a software re-learn thing after the fluid change, agree that the 10AT is happier when it's flogged a bit...kinda cool, haha

Around 30-35 mph if I realize gas pedal and push again my 10AT searching right gear and this moment lags acceleration also when AT is warm shifting smoother. Yes when you drive harder this AT is great.

Owner of a '25 Civic Hybrid here. At what milage do you recommend doing a break in oil change for the new Atkinson cycle engines? Have heard 1-2K for traditional engines. What about for the new hybrids?

It’s been like this since their 4-speeds. I’m not sure what’s going on with Honda when it comes to their transmissions. But one thing I know is that Honda hasn’t mastered the art of programming them. They need to hire some folks from BMW to develop software for the 10-speed. One I noticed is how the ZF 8HP installed in BMWs is they account for wear.
@BCautosolutionsКүн бұрын
@@MrSamPhoenix yeah the trans finally seems to be reliable just needs some fine tweaking.

When going over bumps I get this like creaking noise coming from the rear, especially when it’s cold outside. When the car is stationary and I push down on the rear it doesn’t make that noise and it doesn’t bounce up and down. Could it still be the struts or should I check other parts?

need to give the 10-sp transmission the Italian tuneup. Q: my 2013 Hyundai with 72K miles is starting to develop what sounds like piston slap at cold start. Do you rec warm up the car at idle or warm it up as quickly as possible by driving at moderate speeds?
@sdalexander8505Күн бұрын
Give it 30 seconds to a minute to get the cat warm, then put it in drive and go. Drive moderately for a couple minutes. A transmission can take over 10 minutes to get to operating temp. Much longer than it takes for the coolant to reach its operating temp.

When would you replace timing chain and possibly vtc actuator if no vtc actuator rattle or cam crank correlation codes? Vehicle has 198k miles. Also how do you feel about liquimoly engine flush? I’ve personally used bg EPR the red car with success, however, I didn’t have any sludge when I did it so not sure if it did anything at the time.

My 2006 Pilot has a tapping noise that doesn’t start until it has been running for about 20-30 seconds. The tapping speeds up with acceleration. I have had valves adjusted and got new plugs and coils. I also get an occasional CEL that shows misfires on all cylinders and a p0420 and p0430 code. It runs fine and has normal power. Any ideas?

2019 Honda Pilot with a persistent “tailgate open” warning indicator. This is after updating to the latest software and going through an automated carwash. Which would be the culprit of this issue? Bad update or moisture in sensor/switch?
@BCautosolutionsКүн бұрын
@@ChuckNorrizzed if you push on the tailgate does light turn off? Check for loose latch possibly. Could be a weird coincidence or related.
@ChuckNorrizzedКүн бұрын
@ definitely tried that, slammed the trunk hard. The warning light remains on which is pretty annoying especially when in drive! It’s unlikely due to the software update. Suspecting moisture might have tripped out the sensor from the carwash?
