I spent years in an unhappy relationship and made excuse after excuse, and would try and convince myself I’m ok and it’s ok and I would never get anything better and this is how it’s meant to be for me. But eventually I met someone else who showed me that I could be happier and did have a future, so like you I came out of that relationship… looking back I don’t no how I stayed. I was MISERABLE. He had a detrimental effect on my mental health. I actually don’t feel like the same person after some of the things I went through. He didn’t want a life, he chose work and gaming over literally anything else. He wouldn’t even come for a walk or to see my fam. Amongst many many other things. So trust me. What happened needed to happened for you (and me) live your life girl. Life is too short. 😊😊 so glad to see your doing better xxx

@@emilyrobinson6091 Sounds like we went through a very similar situation. I’m so glad to hear that you met someone who made you truly happy and I totally agree that sometimes you need to go through something difficult to get to the better things. I’ve definitely learned a lot from that relationship so I’m taking that positive from it. It’s so sad that a relationship can have such a negative impact on your mental health. I feel like a completely different person now, like you did too when you came out of your relationship. I know what I want in the future now, and I know what must have things I will look for in a future partner, so at least it’s been a learning experience. Thanks for sharing this with me by the way, it makes me feel so much less alone. ❤️ xxx

Although there was two of us when we bought our house, we didn’t have as big a joint salary as we would like and the area we lived in at the time was very expensive but we were able to buy a 3 bed house in the end and I love it. The main two things I would say that helped us was 1) Use a mortgage broker, they have access to lenders that you can’t just go directly with who manually underwrite mortgages so could potentially give you more money. 2) If you live in an area that costs quite a lot consider moving a bit further away from a main town/city, we moved 30 mins away from where we were before but it was 30 mins further away from London so we were able to buy a 3 bedroom house for the price we’d have got a 2 bedroom flat. And it was a new build too so didn’t need any work xx

Girl I feel you about the buying alone situation!! I have a decent amount of savings at the moment (maybe like £30k). And I'm in a decent job (around £28-30k), not really high paying but it's ok. I could afford to pay a monthly mortgage payment, with enough to spare for emergencies etc. But, banks would refuse to lend me anything more than about £120k, and I live on the South Coast of England where the minimum price for 1 bedroom places are about £300k. So I'm basically stuck. I've lived with my parents since I graduated uni so I could save, so I don't want to rent at this stage, but I'm desperate for my own place. My parents aren't particularly well off so couldn't be too comfortable being a mortgage guarantor which is fair enough. I really do feel so stuck. It is so frustrating and demoralising! One day we will get there, we might be in our 80s lol but we will get there! Also, I'm a folklore girlie through and through!! Lots of love ❤

Hey again Lucille sending love from Australia, I had a person tell me one day abd this changed my life when it came to relationships and it was "every time you choose somebody who isn't choosing you, you abandon yourself" it stuck with me that never accept friendships that are one sided abd I have so many amazing friends and though I really want a partner I'm still better off alone with friends who care than in a relationship I feel abandoned in. So proud of you girl, you inspire me!

Hi Lucille 🙂 You always seemed happy before your life changed earlier this year but you seem ultra confident now and ready to take on the world 🌎. You should be proud of yourself. There is a guy out there whose destiny is to be 'your man', and I hope he knows how lucky he will be when he meets you. I feel your pain about your inability to obtain a mortgage but things are not likely to change. The banks are scared of the high risk of defaults, the UK owes so much money, the taxes are at a post 1945 high and the events in the US last week will make the world economy fall back. I like your real-ness. Complete honesty. I hope you have a good week, Lucille.

I am buying on my own at the moment. I do not have a high paying job - under 25k, I have saved a lot and am having help from family. My parents are also guarantoring my mortgage. This all being considered I was denied so many mortgages coz I had to be able to cover 75% of the mortgage! Speak to a mortgage adviser and look at your affordability, they will be able to shop around for you. I am having a friend be my lodger so she is covering a lot of the monthly mortgage repayments. It is a bit of nightmare buying alone though, I am extremely lucky my parents are guarantoring my mortgage, if they weren’t I wouldn’t be able to do it. Would you consider buying with your sister?
