I don’t normally comment but I was rejected from Cambridge first time round then took a gap year and got in when I reapplied so keep faith, the universe works in mysterious ways but everything happens for a reason and so many good things will be right round the corner. And just enjoy the gap year !

Also Master's degrees in the UK are so expensive, and there are very few funding opportunities in the Humanities; I think only applying to one that you're really inspired by and really suits you is incredibly important. Good luck with future applications!

that is literally the same with my Oxford rejection - I had to go to St Andrews for more interviews that same day and then Leeds the next - so quickly had to brush it under the carpet and only think about it the next day loooool. But what fate - an Oxford rejection on the day I had an interview at St. A which is now where I have firmed!

I finished university last year (in december), my graduation ceremony was going to be on the 27th of March, it was cancelled and we don't have a new date yet. It's frustrating to study hard for four years and then not being able to have a graduation.

I'm graduating this year too and although I'm sad that the big ceremony we were supposed to have + all of my short-term plans have been cancelled, I do feel some reassurance coming from the fact that we're all experiencing it... And I also realise the privilege I have to spend lockdown with my family (we're all healthy) in a big house with a big garden and so much interesting things to do to distract myself from reality! At first I was shattered to leave the country I was studying in to go back home, but it got so much better when I accepted that everything happening was beyond my control, and all I could do was just do my best, take care of myself and my loved ones, continue to do the things I love (reading, learning, drawing, printing stuff in 3D... haha) while the world figures itself out. And strangely, when you look at it this way, you feel way more calm :) It's also a good time to reflect on the 3 years behind me, but also on what I want in the future and re-motivate myself to work even harder than I used to! Soooo all this talking just to say we ARE in this together and we'll come out stronger of this lockdown and virus madness! The biggest thing we have to be thankful about is our health because it's the thing that truly matters at the end of the day

Had a similar experience to your Oxford one except I failed to get into a graduate volunteering thing + ngl it's nice to hear that it hurt for you too, because when I missed out I was devastated but no one really cared because they knew it was unlikely I'd get it anyway :(

Hey dude, big fan of your channel. For postgraduate study you need to realise that in places like Oxford and Cambridge research is the main priority. In your application you need to priorities research in regard to English literature. In your gap year I recommend you priorities research- be the research assistant of a professor if you can etc
