I feel like Oxford rejecting Jack was like a *blessing in disguise*. Like this is so not the year to do a masters- it would probably all be online and the experience would just be so... different. Hopefully by the time Jack goes things will have settled down and he’ll have the best experience possible!

Really appreciate your openness about rejection from jobs, masters etc and just the whole idea that you don't have to do everything in some particular time frame. I graduated from Durham (did English too lol) a few years ago and post uni life is chaotic and weird and full of so much unnecessary pressure to do everything in your 20s. I also applied for a masters and got rejected and honestly I'm so glad I did as it would have been the completely wrong timing and taking some time out of the education hamster wheel was one of the best decisions. Lockdown has encouraged me to realise, as you said, that not everything had to be rushed - early 20s are for learning! This slowing down has also been beneficial to my career crisis as it has made me reassess my priorities and realise that I would love to have a gap year of sorts after my masters then train to be an English teacher. Your positive outlook is so freeing and definitely helps me feel a lot less nervous haha :)

People are very right-winged here. Taxi drivers will scam you if you don't know the fares, auto drivers too. Use uber and ola, that's your best bet. Don't leave your belongings unattended. carry cash or have gpay, paytm, amazon pay. paypal doesn't work, it works only for online orders on websites but not in the streets.
