I started wearing a bag with veganism written on it to school and one of my teachers turned out to be vegan and another classmate that I don't really talk to was transitioning right now. So there can be people around you that you just don't know about~

Your people's country is beautiful, Duncan! This was an interesting insight into what makes you two tick, as individuals and as a unit. You are quite sophisticated in how you navigate your differences and keep your obvious regard for one another as your lode star. It sets a welcoming tone, and acts as an inspiring example for those of us struggling to create harmony with omni loved ones and peers. Thanks for posting this.

Wow, when your father stated that he 'didn't want to be a part of the system' - it was almost verbatim what you said at the Christmas party at Lizzy's family's house! You felt like you choked, but the comment is something you've obviously heard a lot. Love you guys!

+Vegelante The nope hasn't seen johns videos yet. He's seen all the documentaries, cowspiracy, forks over knives etc. he's slowly eating less meat and doesn't eat any dairy now except butter occasionally. He's coming around, just slowly 😀 thx for the tip tho, I'll have him check out some of his vids too! Xoxo

Kristen my husband is not vegan but I am. We've been together 20 years and I've been vegan for 7 years. I don't push it or talk about it much with him. I cook. He eats. I share fb posts about vegan body builders and athletes. I know he sees them but I just lay low. In my head, I'm screaming and begging but this needs to be his decision. He is stubborn. If I forced it he'd never consider it and he'd be resentful later and would relapse to meat. I want him to be in charge of his journey. He has started making changes: no milk, reduced egg intake, buying meat replacements, limited meat he brought into the home etc. He's like Liz in that he'll try anything and can enjoy animal free but the indoctrination from his family is deep so he's not yet ready. It'll happen. I just need to be patient. It took 39 years for me to get it. I can give him time

i find it so interesting that you think that some people may be more geneticly disposed to eating meat. i was raised eating all types of meat but when i was about 9 i totally went off the idea of meat and milk for some reason the thought of it just made me sick to my stomach it had nothing to do with animal rights. this lasted for about 6 months and i then went back to eating meat. recently (16 years later) the same thing happened and I started doing some research on veganism and now longer eat animal products but never really knew why i went off it to begin with. I even used to work on a dairy farm (i live in nz so they are very different to the ones in the states and i thought the animals had a wonderful life)

This year 2016 I met a friend that is a vegetarian and really started to make me be aware of animal cruelty and factory farming. I did a lot of research and really got into the subject, I do share the same beliefs as my friend but is still difficult for me to do the transitioning, not because of me but because I still live with my parents and sister who are not vegetarians. I'm really starting to feel the need to change. I found your channel and I must say you really inspired me both. Could you please make a video talking about this? People who face some problems when transitioning and how should they do the transition? Really like your videos. Greetings from Portugal :)
@Gonhyuuga38 жыл бұрын
I sometimes do, I started to show them that we can eat delicious meat free dishes but they still don't think as I do and have the need to consume meat. Thank you for your suggestion :)
@soyouredatingavegan8 жыл бұрын
Hey Goncalo, thank you for your comment, and that's awesome you have an open mind and kind heart :) What is it you find difficult about the transition? Do you feel comfortable doing it by yourself or do you need to convince your family as well? Have you tried sharing your research with them?
@Gonhyuuga38 жыл бұрын
Hey, thank you for answering so quickly! I did show them some of it but they are not yet very convinced or willing to change what they think it's correct just because our society tought them the opposite. Nevertheless I always try to introduce the subject at home to make them see what happens. I am comfortable doing it by myself but can I do it now, all of a sudden? Do you know if our body responds well to that? This is something that my parents fear...
@soyouredatingavegan8 жыл бұрын
Some people say they did it all at once and it worked out fine. For me, I needed to do it gradually. I was pescetarian for most of my life, then I stopped eating fish. A couple years later I stopped eating eggs and dairy, unless I was on a date or at a party or something. I considered myself "vegan-ish" for a while before I was vegan. You should do what works for you. You've been doing a lot of research and might be feeling like you need to stop supporting the system as soon as possible. If that's the case, go for it. It's a good idea to research proper nutrition before diving in: www.peta.org/living/food/vegetarian-101/vegans-guide-good-nutrition/

Have they watched the Gary Yourofsky lecture? Or Cowspiracy? Or Forks Over Knives? If they have, just tell them you don't feel comfortable buying & preparing meat, so if they want to eat it they're going to have to buy & prepare it. If they haven't, sit down and watch it with them and they might change their mind.
