Q&A - What’s wrong with my boxwood? Some leaves are yellowing.

This is not boxwood blight. Rick Pudwell from Memphis Botanic Garden mentions a few things it might be. The soil pH may be wrong. Boxwoods like alkaline soil but in the background, he sees a healthy camellia which likes acid soils. Boxwoods like to be planted high for good drainage; it may be too low. If it is too low, you can remove some soil around it or even dig it up and replant it. You can see though the plant, so it has probably been suffering for several years.

As a general rule the farther a plant is taken out of their native range the more care it needs to maintain a optimal growth. Googling "buxus native range" gives the reason for many of the problems with this plant. "native to western and southern Europe, northwest Africa, and southwest Asia, from southern England south to northern Morocco, and east through the northern Mediterranean region to Turkey." Here in North America it's out of its' native range so for sure there are going to be problems. Native plants are already adapted to our climate/moisture. That`s what you need to grow.

I cut off all the braches leading to the brown leaves. It came back to life.

I’m black, I came here to learn how to keep my plant alive. The last thing on my mind was the colour of ethnicity of the presenter, so your comment surprised me. Also…what is stopping poc from starting their own show? Most gardeners just want excellent advice. How / why did you mash up skin colour with garden shrubs??? 😂
