Congratulations on 1.6K now! I enjoy your channel because you write music and play so expressively. You've got swing, as they used to say, and that's everything. I'm surprised nobody asked about how you do that! I really enjoy your music. Keep it up, Stef. ✌

Spot on comment regarding Akai’s onboard sounds (4000s & 5000). They really need to step it up with their next release.

Thanks for the video Stef! If you’re looking for another topic to discus in the future, I’d love to know more about the difference between Akai EWIs and the berglund instruments models. As an outsider, it looks like the berglund instruments devices are much more expressive

I apologize if I missed any of this in your previous videos - was wondering if you could do a video explaining the fundamentals of the NuRAD, including how the added lip sensor works, the chord rotation feature (if I’m understanding this correctly), a good basic sound module & effects processor to get off the ground, etc. I have 2 old EWI-1000s and hope to upgrade to a NuRAD at some point, so thinking about using the analog Akai modules for a basic saw wave and possibly chord rotation from that module as well, if I get an additional sound module. Not really looking to use a phone or tablet for sounds, maybe just a 1/2 rack module that has some good basic synth sounds (not trying to emulate existing instruments like flutes or trumpets). If you have any tips on these topics, or general thoughts on just getting started on the NuRAD, they would be greatly appreciated Thanks! Aaron

No worries! I haven't really made much content about the NuRAD, but that can change! In the meantime, if you're on facebook, I recommend joining the Berglund Instruments discussion group: facebook.com/groups/1007022809731441 Many people there should be able to give you good advice on analog sound modules etc... Also check out this page for the manual etc: github.com/Trasselfrisyr/NuEVI/releases Also check out NuRAD artists Eddie EWI and Brandon Dorris. They both use very different gear than I do, and rock on it! As for the added lip sensor, it's a strip of metal near the mouthpiece that measures how much of your lip is in contact with it and then sends out a MIDI CC signal from 0-127 accordingly. Very handy! I use it to control glide on my synths and give an example in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rJabgZqNftGhq5I I haven't checked out the chord rotation feature so much yet, but I'll make a video about it when I do!

Six months getting your config worked out on the NuRAD makes me feel better! Have had mine for a few weeks and this is motivating me to go ahead and turn off the pitch bend plates or move them far out of the way. I accidentally touch them all the time, and honestly not sure I'll ever want to use them vs. just bending with the bite sensor, which feels more natural to me. I've noticed when you play NuRAD you tend to have the mouthpiece coming out of the side of your mouth a bit - is that to help you blow past it / leak air around it since it's a closed system? Have you made adjustments to the pinky finger keys on either hand? I'm still struggling to get used to those as well. Would be cool to have a vid on what specific exercises, etudes, practice books etc you use to get familiar with a new EWI, since you play several and there must be some adaptation period for each one.

Thanks for the video suggestion, I'll give it some thought! I actually play the nurad out the side of my mouth because I like to use flute/recorder articulation and I basically don't want the mouthpiece getting between my tongue and the back of my front teeth... which it totally does if it's far enough in for me to also use the lip sensor, which i like. I guess it also makes it easier to work with the closed air system, which is a bonus! Haven't made any adjustments to the pinky keys tho.
