Q-Bert Atari 2600 Review

I'm sure the original Q-Bert manual for 2600 actually told you to hold the joystick in a diamond formation with the fire button at the top.

The Nes Version was the closet counterpart to the Arcade. I still love Q*Bert!...........!@#

I had this for the Atari and didn't like it, you work and work to get all the way up in levels only to die and have to go through all the easy levels again. No saves in Atari games though. . .

VCS did a great job on this one. Once you get the hang of the controlls,it's an awesome game!

If there's Voice Actors on any newest Q*Bert Game. And if Q*Bert talks in English. I think any newest Q*Bert Game should be Rated T or M for Language.

Somebody probably mentioned this below... but this game has a random fatal glitch. Eventually, at a point where the cubes need to be switched a couple times to/fro, it will get to a level where you can't win, and even when you switch them all the right way, you don't progress... you just stay on the same level jumping around for infinity.

This was a great arcade port, regardless of the fun factor. Nice isometric too.

whats not mentioned here is the simultaneous jump, when coily jumps towards you and you jump towards coily. in other versions it kills you, here, it is a very useful stunt sometimes

anyone remember the skit from Square One TV called "Pauline's Perilous Pyramid"? Here was the game it parodied and honestly I enjoyed that as much as this review which is a lot!

Man, I'm gonna be damn honest, this game was a fucking NIGHTMARE for me as a kid. I was a big fan of Q-Bert (mainly due to having some of his books and a stuffed Q-Bert doll), and because of that, I wanted sooo badly to be good at this game, but as a child, I could never develop a worthwhile strategy to do anything worth a fuck in this overly difficult game. Plus I didn't know the green guy couldn't hurt you or that you could use lifts to go back to the top of the pyramid. : (

The capabilities of the 2600 were probably too limited to include them.
