According to its writer, "the song is about transcendence over those who see the world as only earthly and finite. The horses represent the five senses discussed in the Bhagavad Gita and the ability to lift one’s perception above these physical limitations and to see beyond this limited Earthly perspective."

@@fortheloveofnoise If there is a "God" it is obviously beyond our comprehension. For all we know black holes in space may be it's eyes. But I believe it's very human to put the question forth, otherwise we would still be climbing trees with our brothers and sisters. Besides, good and evil are human concepts, part of our tendency to put a label on everything, put it into an order we seem to be able to control on some level, when more often than not control is beyond us, control of ourselves, control of those around us, or the world we live in.

Sad story...Quiana escaped an abusive relationship before becoming a musician, had some modest success but not the level she truly deserved. She then left for the UK to reinvent herself after American record labels wouldn't sign her because they didn't think she was marketable...not representative of what people expect a new wave or dark wave or rock musician should look like. Met a guy who basically repeated the abusive relationship the originally escaped, whereabouts currently unknown and presumed dead by former band members and business associates. A damn shame :(

i tried to find more of their music but I don't think there is, a shame, i love this track i can listen to over and over, it has a 80s feel, deep especially the reference to the Gita and the horses symbolising our 5 senses and our need transcend this material worlder, has a resonance with me. almost like a death of this fake illusionary reality and transcend to who we really are. i often wonder if the keepers controllers of this world wish to keep us locked in 5 sense reality samsara. peace love in these times Lindsey x

she is awesome, I even shared this cut of "Q" with a boss at work and he too thought she was an effeminate white male. Now that I have listened to it for 100X times I can hear this "sister" coming thru in the background. God did bless this "Q" she was on the rise and could have been the next Nina Simone in my opinion and "please do not disagree" for she was on the rise.
@danielmurray048 жыл бұрын
do you think the track being used as a track for the killer in silence of the lambs, his imitating a woman as bets he could and as how he saw women, might have given him this gender bending perspective? ... great voice, but I would think Q is more part of a band, where as Nina is the music, with the band almost being incidental... so "I must disagree sir" :)
@negativeindustrial7 жыл бұрын
Daniel Murray I totally agree. I’ve been listening to this song since I was 11yo in the 80’s and only in the last 4 years or so learned it was a black woman. Until then, I too, thought it was another all white New Wave band, possibly from London, like the Pet Shop Boys or Depeche Mode or something. I have a killer 80’s New Wave playlist I’ve been cultivating over the last couple of decades and this song is in the top 25 for sure. One band I notice people forget when they make these playlists are The Cure. They were, in my opinion, the absolute best of those bands. ValePlace I don’t think so tho. It’s a good theory but I had already been a fan of this song with that assumption in mind, gotten sick of it and stopped playing it and THEN “The Silence Of The Lambs” came out and resparked my love for this song. I got sick of it again eventually and only occasionally heard it on my 80’s playlist when Clerks 2 came out and reignited it again LOL
@scottmurdock01z5 жыл бұрын
"on the rise", perhaps, but that doesn't = "next Nina Simone", since Q was a very different genre from Nina.

@Neg Ative The Cure are being forgotten as an 80s Post punk/new wave/goth playlist staple? For shame! When I think of that era, The Cure along with Joy Division damn near steered the entire course of music that entire decade. Bauhaus, Siouxee and the Banshees (which Robert Smith also played guitar in for a bit), New Order (Joy Division post-Ian Curtis's suicide), Echo and the Bunnymen, Depeche Mode, The Church... all heavily heavily influenced by The Cure and Joy Division. It is funny though, the earlier years of the Cure set the tone but it wasn't until 10 years later coming into the 90's after the back to back gems Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me (88) Disintegration (89... widely considered their "masterpiece" with Love Song, Lullaby and Fascination Street and Pictures Of You all on it) they really popped. I guess I see your point, haha.
