Was just told by my tuner to go with 2 3in straight pipes (no x pipe) and 4 resonators...this vid helped a lot!

Are you going for more top end power, or bottom end?

@@momoneyhabits the x pipe will increase your torque making you launch harder on the bottom end. No x pipe will increase your flow giving you better top end, but will sacrifice your low end torque. I personally am not trying to get into the high triple digits in speed on a street car. But the low end acceleration I can use all day every day.

@@importroller I get what you saying but I'm in TX. Unless you actually at a drag strip, the majority of the time is roll racing 40/60 -130

With a 3.0t removing mufflers should generally increase low end torque as you get faster flow over the turbos allowing for low end power to be built quicker.

Removing mufflers does not increase any power or torque. All it does is increase noise. Your torque is controlled more by the ypipe or x pipe depending on which setup you do.

@@importroller If this were the case, conversely you would not experience any low end torque loss. Which you said you did. Obviously this would be the case on some naturally aspirate motors. However on turbocharged motors even just removing a muffler will increase peak horsepower and improve low end torque. The effects may be minimal but there is a measurable difference with the modification.

@@importroller In turbo motors your y pipe and or x pipe can make a difference but where you should expect the larger gains from torque wise (so long as you get a tune) is from the downpipes.

@@poketobyb on these motors true duals without an x or y pipe you will lose a lot of low end power, but top end increases. My main point was your original comment about muffler deletes. Those don't do anything performance wise, it's all sound.

@@importroller yea I removed the muffler on my 3.0t and I’d say about 300 miles in I can definitely tell the difference, especially when I it’s in sport mode with the Manuel shifting , I’m skirting tire all the way through second gear , a lot of v8 owners stay saying I got a fast ass q50 , not saying the muffler delete made me have a shit ton of power , just saying I can definitely tell the little increase in torque as u stated

You got 4 you should reposition them. Or if you can spot it get rid of the long bottle resonators and get 4 race resonators 3". On that x pipe put them at all 4 cones. Then straight pipe to the back. You'll lose the rasp and it will be deep and tight. Nice smooth pulsation. I drive an fx45 with a custom x pipe setup and muffs nobody has heard that are bad ass and home made in the USA lol. The setup I'm telling you is similar to the borla xs setup I see on a few q50 3.7. but better!!! My wife has a 2015 Q50 base and ima bout to go midieval on her $#! +. I know sounding tuning pretty well... I'm an audio engineer and play a trombone go figure🤓😉.

I just wished those ricer raspy Honda with their straight pipes could add 2 or more resonators, they’ll would sound a lot better

After installing 2 resonators, do your X-pipe sounds raspy and metallic ?? I have a 300 2012 V6 with true dual X pipe catless and only 2 rear mufflers, but around 2000 to 2500@RPM it sounds horrible too raspy and metallic.... I don’t know how I can solve this... maybe adding 2 resonators will solve or replacing X for H ? Can you help me please

If you have an x pipe already, it's not a true dual setup. True dual is each engine bank has its own exhaust path. The two sides never connect. As for the rasp, you may need to install an x or h pipe. To get rid of the rasp. If that doesn't eliminate the rasp, you may need to add two more resonators. 1 per side

@@importroller very thanks man.. I didn’t know true dual exhaust was when both don’t connect each other... so as you said I already have a X-Pipe but too raspy around 2.000 to 2.500 rpm, so to get rid of this raspy sound I should only install 2 resonators in mid ? I have no cats either

@@TheMarchetti being catless is part of your issue, but adding two resonators will quiet it down a lot. I hate that rasp. Vibrant resonators are a good price and do a hell of a good job. EBay has them for around $100 each

Think the resonators should have been placed closer to the motor for better sound control did it to my v6 Honda Accord

The only problem with Nissan and Honda engines is that the harmonics are tuned for maximum performance not sound and that's why Honda's I4 and v6 engine's sound so raspy high compression and header design and Nissan's i4 and v6 engine's high compression and header design also both brands are extremely cheep to own and people that dont have any money for real mods get them and give the cars a bad reputation especially honda civic's. civic's can sound amazing with the right headers and exoust or even better a turbo manifold with a good resonator and a good high quality muffler like a varex xforce system same for Nissan's vq just put a varex xforce muffler on it and it will solve the issue

Did the x pipe give your trq back? I went 2.5 true dual and it wasn’t there nomore. I miss my stock

Yes, xpipe is needed, or you'll have no low end torque

The Infiniti sounds great without the muffler and with only the 4 resonators installed.

Will it sound deeper that way? Or should I delete all muffs and resonators? Very new to exhaust mods, and just want my q50 to have a deep done, any tips or help is much appreciated!

@@josh97941 : You could try the 4 resonators setup, like in the video. Magnaflow mufflers has nice deeper sound, and lasts longer than the glass pack cherry bombs. Cherry Bomb glass packed mufflers lasts only last few years, but sounds nice, deep smooth sound. Flowmaster 40 series has the nice rumbling sound. Borla mufflers sounds great too, also has low tone as well. My first choice is magnaflow, higher price than the Flowmaster, but it's great quality and decently priced. Flowmaster, lower price than magnaflow, but still decent quality. Cherry Bomb, glass pack, lowest cost of the bunch, but only lasts few years, before the glass pack gives up. Borla, more expensive than the others, but still great quality. Try search up for videos, with Nissan or Infiniti vehicles, with the mufflers I have mentioned above, to get better idea of the sound. Hope my info has been helpful to you.

Don't delete the resonators, it usually don't sound good, usually get whiney bee hive sound, might end up sounding like a Acura EL, not a good sound for a Infiniti / Nissan. You can try the muffler delete alone, if you are up for it, otherwise magnaflow muffler could be just the thing for you.

The vibrant resonators at the back I got off ebay since it was less expensive there, than anywhere else. The magnaflows and x pipe are from the shop that did the work

nice comparison. get your turbos checked, that high pitch winding noise is indication of turbo failure

@@importroller my 2016 had noticeable high pitch whistles, took it in and they replaced both with the revised turbos.

I think it’s bc ur piping was 2.5in, on my 3in custom fab straight pipe with xpipe with Megan racing ldp it was much deeper sounding

3" is a bit much on these motors, and there is a lot of rasp introduced when you go above 2.5" on the stock turbos

The way you have your radar detector is wrong just so you know. It’s suppose to be straight for maximum distance and not to the side which affects performance. You want your radar to work as far as possible cuz sometimes these CHP’s use instant on.
