@@pierre-davidmoreau to be fair. I don’t think it sounds stock if you were there live. These microphones are so limiting. I’m sure of it. Man, so many people in here don’t understand what a good sounding exhaust system actually entails. There’s a hell of a lot more to it than just volume. If you want to blow your eardrums out, piss off your neighbors, and sound like a dump truck, then that’s your choice, but when it’s done right, you have a certain elegance that’s pleasing to the ear and is just as easy to live with like the stock system.

Definitely a difference of opinion, I also believe that the mic you guys are currently using doesn’t capture the depth of the deeper tones that are coming off it. The first one sounds more aggressive sure but I think much more higher pitched and raspy. What seems to be the case here is you have a much more deeper sounding engine but quite frankly I think your mic setup is set for catching higher pitched slash vocals as opposed to catching the sound of something which is so bassy. Try changing up the mic that you use to capture sound from the mic.

Having built my fair share of systems on mostly turbo cars, and also being a former audio competitor back in the 90's I've also played with helmholtz resonators etc...even did a dual inlet/outlet muffler that looped back into itself once on a custom truck with surprising results on drone control...what it sounds like to me here, is you removed a lot of the "blat" and the cats definitely smoothed out the sound and removed some higher frequency spikes. Overly long and large diameter exhausts tend to get blatty in a hollow sewer pipe way (Think V8 diesel truck with 5 inch pipe. Blah!) Too small can also have that effect but it's more "farty"...That old school glass pack sound on steroids. It's what every freaking Coyote Mustang seems to suffer from these days...makes me cringe. With this one you definitely smoothed and cleaned up the sound. Nice work. PS. One thing I've had better "sound" and success with this going with 45* bends to make my X pipes not 90's or 180's merged like I see in this exhaust. Much less turbulence. It always for me, gave it that more hollow "racey" sound. (Think C5+ vette sound.)

Whilst I really appreciate the thought, time and development that went into that exhaust, the rest is subjective and personally opinions. Personally the aftermarket exhaust sounds barely different, it may do in person but that’s still holding back what makes AMG so special - that anger and cracks. I’ve tried a few exhaust setups both brought and “hacked” and of course as a personal opinion, I can’t seem to find anything that sounds better than the stock headers without cats, and secondary cats removed. Retain resonator and mufflers has the angriest sound while retaining that AMG tone. X pipe introduces a rasp at any stage of the exhaust but you just reversed that with everything else, somewhat pointless. A very artistic approach and I enjoyed the video, but personally you can achieve a more attractive sound. That being said, I hope the customer is happy, and very nice work on the making of the exhaust and the video

The before sounds more raw, rough and better. The after cleans up the sound with more sound separation between the exhaust and turbo, but it loses that edginess. Personal preference, but AMGs sound best when a bit unrefined.

I really want to bring my Mazda 3 Hatch in so you guys can finally be the ones to get this cars natural sound down. sure it isn't the fastest or the quickest in the turns, but its an affordable lux sports car, but damn is it so much fun to throw into corners and to drive it fast. all the other major brands SUCK in my opinion in trying to bring out the cars sound and make it sound like a stereotypical 4 banger, but the entire engines architect should make it a completely unique sound since its based on a diesel/gas technologies brought together, and the stock sound in cabin or outside sounds so deep and grungy (good grunge) its easy to fall in love with it, but to modify and bring that sound out, barely any videos exist. in fact one build was from a ebay 1-2 muffler connector that was labeled "performance" and after the OEM muffler delete he just had it piped from the connector muffler into a 2.5 pipe then 4" tips. it costed him $200 and tbh it sound WAY better than the other brand's $700+ kits

The cat less exhaust sounded way better. More pops and bangs. Closer to the true expression of the engine. The turbos kill the sound any way. Straight pipe with valvetronic mufflers is the only way to live life. The gas smells good, you can hear the turbos from a block away, I can go on all day about a straight pipe. Straight pipe cold starts sound epic on that engine. But with the press of a button you can kill all the sound with the valvetronic mufflers.

I had a 2013 CLSAMG 63 and the only mod I have done was to cut the resonator out completely and put straight pipes in. Nothing else moded - stock Cats stock exhaust. It sounded awesome and produced thrilling cracks and pops. The most important part there was no drone. It is like German engineers made that resonator easily accessible intentionally so you could remove it and truly enjoy what the AMG was supposed to sound like. The result that you guys have gotten, I can hear the deeper tone, which I like, but I think it sounds a little too sterile for my ears, especially knowing what that engine could sound like.
