Mate you speak so eloquently 😊. I have to say the meal.service is revolting. No table cloth on table just the horrible tray. Food looked dreadful. Cheap and nasty catering . Great video ❤

Good report. Trans tasman looks pretty much like they employed a domestic style service. I agree that NZ has the edge where they offer J. For an interesting comparision for QF, I suggest you try for the QF9/10 MEL-PER-MEL or QF5/6SYD-PER-SYD (and upcoming QF33/34 as part of tge Paris flights) domestic 787 sectors of those long haul international routes(can be booked as separate sectors). The standard of service is true international J (at least QFs version of it) with properly plated, individual courses, tablecloths, menus etc. It's quite different in that respect. Sadly yes SYD int J lounge, like MEL, is not great. If you get the bump up in status or ability to use the F lounges, you'll notice a far far FAR better experience :)

I flew PER-MEL on the A330 mid last year. As for doing MEL-PER I don’t have plans to at the moment, I probably at some point but not before January. Sorry

Well done in comparison with your same sector SYD-AKL in 2023 with my same sector with Air New Zealand TE on board DC-10-30 International December 1980 in Economy we had better service than you did with QF in 2023 in Business! Well done again, Hugo! It’s always great when you get the opportunity to fly business class - and the Qantas A330 is a good aircraft to do it on. Unfortunately, I don’t think Qantas does the route from Melbourne to Auckland on the A330 (I think it’s just 737s from MEL?) - so it’s not really worth the cabin upgrade on a 737. By all reports though, it seems Air NZ is the best choice for trans Tasman travel no matter where you leave from. Did you utilise points to upgrade to biz or did your family find a good deal? ✈️

Thank you so much! Yeah, I feel very lucky and grateful to be able to do it on the occasion. No they don’t anymore 🙁 That’s why I flew via SYD because it’s not worth it for the recliner seat on the 737. Yeah, except for between SYD and CHC where Emirates takes the cake. I got a good deal, I booked it too late to use points, and I did it mainly for the status credits so I couldn’t use points and still get them. Thanks again!

Yeah it is ridiculously expensive. Trans-Tasman business class is a lot cheaper than long haul flights though. I booked while the tickets were still at the base fare. It was also to get Qantas Gold, so I’d get some of the money back in benefits from that.
