Good to get the chance to see what the current business class offering is like on the B737 Paul. I always feel there should be a price difference between that and the new seat on the B787 and A330. I see many airlines now offer ice cream as a dessert in their business class, but I think it is just a lazy option! I understood Jetconnect ceased operations in 2018, with all trans-Tasman routes now being operated by Qantas. I believe this was because Qantas wanted these aircraft to fly domestic routes within Australia as well as across the Tasman, but as the Jetconnect aircraft were not registered in Australia, they were unable to do so, opting instead to transfer the Jetconnect routes back to Qantas in order to give the airline greater flexibility.

Jetconnect is still around and only provides NZ based flight and cabin crew for the B737s that overnight in AKL and WLG and occasionally on Qantas long haul services. Jetconnect AOC was cancelled in 2018 and the NZ registered B737's were re-registered in Australia under Qantas AOC.

Don't ever fly Qantas. Food is disgusting. Came off a Jetstar flight tonight. Flight was three quarters of an hour late. I missed my connecting transport. No food provided to buy as it was not loaded. Staff at desk rude and made excuses. Offered no solution to my being abandoned in Melbourne with no accommodation. Interesting that the flight attendants were embarrassed and could understand why I will choose Virgin next time. Qantas is finished. Find an alternative.

Paul, I hate to bother you again, but something you said hit me like a bolt of lightning. Since I've been struck by lightning a few times I know what it's like. I gotta share this with you! You mentioned something about liking those air vents and having them blow through what hair you have left. That got me to thinking. Them planes you are always flyin' in is way up there in the ionized air and they is a lot of radiation up there in the vapors. Well, you wonder why your hair is leavin' you and that radioactive air, I think, is what's causin' it. It can also change your tastebuds, Junior says, where even a Moon Pie with an RC tastes bad, so it's ruining your food reports. Me an' Cleetus down at the welding shop done got together and thunk the only hope for you is to make yourself a tinfoil hat an' wear it on every flight. If you don't like the looks of that, then maybe line one of them Austrian Outback hats with some Reynolds Wrap. We ain't a trying' to pull your leg an' Junor is serious as a heart attack, but we want to see you get One Gazillion subscribers with what little hair you got left! haha yeah now that EK have dropped there trans-Tasman A380s there would be a lot more pax wanting tickets on other airlines. I believe that's one reason why QF have started putting the A330s and season 787s on the route.

N747ER was a Qantas Aircraft built for Qantas as it was a 747-438ER and Boeing were very strict on customer numbers, refusing to change them even if an airframe was on sold from the production line (MH first two 747-200Bs were 747-236B as they were in the process of being built for BA when purchased by MH. However, it’s likely Boeing said to Qantas that the first aircraft would be flown as a demonstrator and for publicity amd marketing and they would receive an appropriate discount, if it were otherwise it would likely have been built as a 747-420ER.

Doesn't look too different to economy class. I've never been in business class but I've wondered what it's like. The food looks better though I'd be unable to eat it given I'm so fussy and prefer chicken and rice/potato to anything lol Don't think it's worth the extra money for shorter flights (might be worth it for longer flights because of the extra leg room).

Yeah this is probably their weaker business class but it's better in their larger aircraft. Check out my video flying in the opposite direction in the 787 Dreamliner :)

A great video. When are you going to do some premium economy reviews? Test Singapore Airlines Premium Economy on their A350-900 MEL/WLG last week and I was a little disappointed with their hard and soft products. Premium economy seating is 2-4-2 configuration unlike Air NZ and Qantas premium economy seating configuration of 2-3-2. Singapore Airlines uses the same premium economy seating configuration for their ultra long haul SIN/EWR service. Unlike Air NZ and Qantas, there is no dedicated premium economy cabin crew, Singapore economy cabin crew also service premium economy. Singapore offers standard economy catering for their premium economy passengers. At least premium economy passengers get their meals first and get noise cancelling headsets;) By the way, Air NZ is operating some of the older international short haul A320's on domestic jet services between AKL/CHC/AKL and AKL/WLG/AKL and they do not block entertainment content on the IFE system but you have to use your own headseats.

Most the youtube commercial aviation channels don't review PE products which is more affordable to most travelers and concentrate on J and/or F class which is usually out reach fare wise for most Gen Y/Gen Z.

I would say comparing this to BA or any European carrier this business class product on QF’s 737 is amazing. In Europe as I’m sure you’re aware we only get a blocked middle seat and relatively poor catering not to the standard you had. Overall, this is a very impressive product considering it’s only a few hours flight plus does domestic Australian flights too, European carriers need to learn! (QFamenitykit)

Other way ‘round I think. VH-OEE is a 747-438ER so the ‘38’ indicates it WAS built FOR Qantas and THEN used as a demonstrator/Prototype while registered N747ER. It is not uncommon for aircraft built for Qantas by Boeing to have a US Registration or Airbus to have a French Registration during the test phases.

The barramundi actually tastes great, just hard to get it plated well on such a small plate. Don't think the NZ routes will ever get WiFi as the aircraft are fitted with the NBN antenna, and the NBN satellite only covers the Australian landmass. Tradeoff for better speeds, versus the increased coverage but slower speeds that Virgin gets from the Optus sat

Had been blogged they'd signed a deal with Viasat for its Gen3 satellites (similar high speed Ka band sats to the NBN one) but 3 sats covering the world, although they still don't have a launch date - targeting 2022 as I understand

I believe that Qantas international are waiting for a ViaSat 2 going up next year. Many years ago (maybe 10-ish) I was flying J on a 747 to LAX and Qantas was running a free wifi trial for F & J. In the latter part of the flight, one of the cabin crew said that I was the only one using it, as everybody else was sleeping.

Qantas needs to sort its wifi out. Pretty much all Air NZ aircraft flying internationally are wifi enabled. And wifi on NZ is totally FREE! That's all international aircraft excepting some earlier 787s and some older A320s (being replaced by A321s) due to be enabled by mid 2020.

First red flag for me was the headset which didnt appear cleaned with the ear-pieces missing their post clean vacuum packaging. Getting slack Qantas.. It's said that after only 5 years of continuous service the average passenger aircraft gathers up to 6kg of dead skin in & around the areas of the cabin missed buy rostered cleaning crews.. Most people would be amazed at how a beautifully new cabin looks under ultraviolet light. 😩😳

Theres no privacy at all here. These are basically premium economy seats. If you fly between Aussie and NZ then Emirates business class is the most private and AirNZ has the best food and service. I like privacy more so Emirates is the best

@@PaulStewartAviation perfect mate sounds great, and although the ATR is a beautiful craft, I'm on the Q300 Dash8 beauty. I would recommend either a Gisborne return, just stunning and coming back over Tauranga, White Island or New Plymouth, just breathtaking views buddy.
