This must be one of the last flights that Qantas made with their 747 to New Zealand. As of now, they only do 737's, a320's and rarely a330's. Great vid!

I love watching these take offs and landings videos makes me wish I was travelling somewhere nice and hot. I'll have to start saving up. Remember returning to gatwick and our virgin atlantic flight had to abort his final approach I can't remember why but it was an intereting flight. Thank for posting the video.

@Dieterdtt That was an old Air New Zealand 767-200 ZK-NBB (if I remember) that no-one wanted to buy,so it was bought by Auckland Airport for ONE DOLLAR! and trucked just metres across the runway. It was an eye-sore for some passengers and some thought it was a crashed plane,so they removed the tail and put Fire Training on the side fuselage.

The buzz sound that you hear is from the large fan on the front, which is under high load. Each blade of the fan is an aerofoil, and the pressure on the front of the moving blade is much lower than the rear creating the thrust forward; this pressure differential must be resolved which occurs at the trailing edge of the blade. This is where the buzz noise occurs. At altitude, this noise is nowhere near as prevalent as the atmosphere is less dense and the fan loading is significantly reduced.
