It's a good point you make about the Air New Zealand business class, Paul. I flew from Auckland to Christchurch yesterday on a B777-300 (yes, I know!!) - an economy ticket (and service), but I paid extra for a seat in the J cabin. Comfortable enough, but showing its age. But the most annoying thing was that the seat was angled towards the aisle, so I was looking at two other passengers and not the windows! I'm flying J on CX soon though - looking forward to that! #amenitykit

Hi Peter, yep I completely agree. The food and service on Air NZ is great, although the herringbone seat design is a generation old. I'd much rather be looking out of the window than other passengers. :) CX J is a great product and the reverse herringbone design is what Air NZ should be introducing.

#amenitykit great review. Just did this same flight a couple of days ago but did the 6pm, and having access to the EK was great. Your menu was exactly the same as mine which was good. We had a Melbourne based crew and was way better than some Trans Pacific crew. Didn’t miss EK that much (other than the bar). Thanks for your videos, definitely enjoy them! And what a view out of Auckland :)

As of late march Qantas has signed up a new Media Company to supply their inflight advertisement (which I imagine you may already be aware of) Unfortunately I think that may mean the days of the pre-play ads being restricted to Toyota Forklift products may be numbered! HI Richard, yes I just read that too. I suppose the 747 is a more 'special' aircraft (queen of the skies!) although the business class seat is inferior to that of the A330.

Great review! Making the flight in 2 weeks however they appear to be using the 737-800 outbound and the A330 on the way back. Bummer, I have not yet flown the A330 in Business class and have to wait for the return journey. What package did you use to put the video together? I did Akl - LHR return with Air China Southern and would love to put the bits and pieces together into a flight report.

Thanks Paul love your videos. I just returned to Perth from 4 sectors on QF A330-200 in business class. Firstly the crew Perth to Sydney and return were the best id ever had on any airline so much so I wrote to Qantas to share my thoughts. Im a disabled passenger and had 3A for 3 sectors ans 1F on the remaining sector.Note 3A was comfortable but as you stated the middle bulkhead have much more leg room which eased what for me was somewhat restricted movement in 3A. I must mention the food. In a word huge disappointment.Perth to Sydney a quech the size of a 20 cent coin and very salty mushroom soup.Yes it was the red eye but please this was an insult. Sydney to Auckland a sandwich half the size of yours.The chief purser took photos as he also felt like the passegers were short changed. Second chice a beef chesk that no passengers could eat.All options wete returned to the galley.Auckland/Sydney dinner ha yeah rite.The same menu as the previous flight but this time worse with a Thai inspired crab entree ineatable due to too much fish sauce and the tiny toastie yet again. Sydney/Perth finally a great dinner service with a full fish meal and entree which was fantastic.Thanks to Fiona our onboard chef. Qantas really needs to up its game when it comes to food and Neil perry needs to be given the old heave ho. Boring very small portion choice which was most disappointing. All in all I did enjoy my flights and the free night at Novotel darling harbour compliments of Qantas due to a missed connection.

Yeah I find the storage ledge really good although you're in trouble if you have a bag which you'd want enclosed or is too wide for the ledge. I guess you'll have to toughen up, stand and put it in the overhead lockers. haha
