There's actually a hige expectation in Japan to take your trash with you when you go. Thanks to a terrorist attack in the early 90s, public trashcans are basically non-existent, and it's become a social norm to carry any trash with you until you're in doors. My family runs an art gallery and we've had local and international visitors. Once we had a Japanese man and his daughter visit. We served them some salted ground nuts as a snack and while taking the tour the man accidentally dropped a few, he quickly started to pick them up, I was like, it's fine but he insisted and carried the fallen nuts in his free hand until he had a chance to throw them in a bin properly. It was a memorable gesture and goes to show just how the culture of responsibility is deeply and widely ingrained in these people. I was inspired🇿🇲

I remember my mother told me a story about how she attended a concert with mainly Japanese folks also attending. When the concert was over, the fan filed out so quickly it only took them around 15 minutes. And it was a packed stadium with thousands of people attending. And what’s better was that the whole stadium was left completely empty. All of a sudden she found herself in a near empty, spotless stadium. That’s the type of cleanliness I want to see more of in the West.

Do know the World Cup is every 4 years, most players only make it to 1-3 world cups before they aren’t “fit” to represent the nation at a top level

The point is, the teams claim to support values, but if you only support values when it doesn't hurt, then you don't support them. And another point: The european soccer unions could have easily united in saying: "We don't care about that rule. We will drop out if you punish us". FIFA would not dare to risk Spain, England, Germany etc. dropping out - no one would care for the world cup anymore and their revenue would go bust.

As the children of an American military couple stationed in Okinawa in the 50's, we spent much of our time in the care of 3 Okinawan maids. The lessons I remember most from them was respect, not only for other humans, but equally for books, for doors, for all materials as deserving of respect for the benefits we receive from them. It's an attitude we all could benefit from exercising, myself as well. Over the years, though the memory is strong, its practice has been less than diligent.

i dont know where you are getting your infos from but i am currently living in china and watching FIFA on Chinas national television and i can see the fans all the time. It did caused a lot of discussions and admiring to the locals here to be able to visit a huge gathering event without a mask. I think the night show should make better research than just following what has been reported on the news outlets.

In fairness to the captains it's easy to get a second yellow in the match because of how passions run wild in wild cup matches so for a player who has been waiting 4 years just to play in the biggest competition on earth its not worth it even if yu support the LBGQT,, players should not be political pawns,,all the blame is on FIFA and their massive greed

I don’t blame the captains, FIFA however is despicable and I would never want to play for them or even give them money for anything. Tho in fairness that’s easy for me to say considering I don’t care about the game like the players do.

@@stevebonk8995 100% agree , you cannot blame the captains , they are each representing their Country too , and cannot let an armband come between them and the chance of winning the fifa world cup , for themselves and for their respective countries . Also , if u get a yellow card in 2 consecutive games , u miss the 3rd , so essentially , if they stuck with it , they would all be playing 2 then missing 3rd , assuming they dont get another yellow to make it a red.

So you believe that soccer is more important than human rights? If the players were serious about their protest a yellow card wouldn’t stop a man of principle from doing what he believed was right. I’m disappointed in the usmnt for not supporting the values that America is supposed to hold dear

No harm intended, but Trevor underestimated the importance of the YC in a game. Even if you support it, what will be the effect if you can only wear the band when you sit the match out on the bench. Think about what would happen if CR7/Bale/Luka/VVD got a YC on the first game and had to sit out the second game. It is not that you will be missing the match, but also jeopardizing the future of your national team in a competition that happens every four years.

@@juan-xn5kp I am not talking about any political, media related activities. Neither I am talking about any right or wrong. I am talking from the perspective from a pro player. For a pro footballer not many things come close to attraction of leading the nation to world's biggest tournament. For some its a once in a lifetime opportunity. So, it was quite understandable why they choose to not to wear that band. I am not talking whether they are right or wrong, I am just saying Trevor underestimated the importance of one YC to those players.

He used the same useless arguments to reach his intended audience which is in America. For some reason, in regards to Football, Americans are a little like vegans whereas they need to shout to whoever they can that they do not follow the beautiful sport or know nothing about it. Maybe they believe it makes them less Americans. 😂 "I am a true American patriot, I know nothing about soccer".... Other late show hosts came with the exact same speech.
