錆びて変形した玄翁をだるま玄翁にしました

主に鑿を打つ時などに使われるだるま玄翁、普通の玄翁より頭が短いのが特徴で安定して強い打撃を与えられます、欲しかったのでヤフオクなどでも探していたのですがなかなか高価で手が出ませんでした、今回頭が大きめで短い錆びた玄翁が手に入ったので、だるま玄翁を作ってみました。こんにちは、道具道楽です、チャンネル名のとおりＤＩＹでの物づくり好きが高じて、道具の方が好きになってしまいました。思い起こせば大学時代にＷｏｏｄｙ　Ｌｉｆｅ（丸太小屋ブームの先駆けとなった雑誌）の創刊号を手にした時から始まり、かれこれ４４年のＤＩＹ歴になります。 家づくりの基礎を学ぶために５年ほど大工の修行をし、２０年ほど前に念願のログハウスを建てました。今は、半分仕事もしながら休みの日は仕事場にこもっています。ヤフオクで中古の道具を買っては、またそんなものを買ってと文句を言われつづけ、道楽にうつつを抜かしています。この動画でやっていることはあくまで道楽者が我流でやっていることなので温かい目でご覧ください。 多くの物づくりファンと同じように道具や機械に思うようにお金をかけられるわけではないので、旋盤やベルトサンダー、ベルトソーなどほとんどが手作りで、そのほかの機械もほとんどがヤフオクなどで手に入れた中古品です。ないものは作る、その作ることを楽しむ、というスタンスでやっております。 これからも様々な物づくりを投稿していきたいと思いますので、よろしければチャンネル登録をお願いします

That looks like it swings nicely and would bounce off the anvil hitting metals. Chisel work will keep it pristine. That bark handle is an artist feature. 👍🏼

All that beautiful hammer goes to waste.you hold it short, holding it long would have given you a deeper cut

What a shame! You ruined a nice old tool! Repairs like this have to be done in a forge. No material is taken off, just carefully pushing back the steel to restore the beautiful intended shape. With a new YAKIIRE and YAKIMODOSHI, you would have done it correctly.

These handles are called tree limbs, and not the best thing foe hammer handles.

Dementional lumber would be better as it is older and harder and works best under stress. Saying that, hickory or oak. Again is tool being refurbished for looks or usabilty
