Is that not obvious? He's doing it to convince himself. If you have the constitution and the gut to do so, go back and watch some of Amanuel's earlier contributions to the show, and watch how his views have twisted and warped and decayed into this foul form. He starts off as a curious idiot, but then realizes he has to defend the indefensible. The VAST majority of Christians - when encountering that dilemma - go down one of two roads: They give up questioning, turn on their heels and ignore everything that was just said, go on believing in their superstition because of what mommy and daddy taught them, convict themselves to otherwise benign background beliefs, OR they realize the obvious contraditions, mistakes and logical missteps and abandon the religion. Rare cases however - such as amanuel - EMBRACE the indefensible. They proclaim that slavery is good, women are subservient and should be covered, that death, torture, slaughter and burning is GREAT if it's done to non-christians, idol-worshipers and those not chosen by the master. Amanuel keeps calling in because a part of him is conflicted, and he's convinced that if he just talks through it then he'll find the answer to how he can be a good person and advocate for flaying innocent people alive at the same time. I give it a couple of years before a stray article floats through the internet talking about an Ethiopian guy burning a woman alive as a witch.

So many people have no grasp on the ACTUAL meaning of empathy. This guy has no empathy for the "unelect". He just feels bad, sort of, when he thinks about them

He ties himself into knots trying to make his belief make sense. And he still fails every time.

It does not matter which channel you listen to, Amanuel has the most confused arguments and he runs around all over the place.

Another shining example of a mind addled by religion/faith.
