I purchased the TVS-h874T recently with intel i9 with 64GB for only £2500 !!!! I also purchased 8 x 20TB HDDs and 2 x gen 4 4TB m2. I also bought the m2 card robbie covered with 10G port and 2 extra m2 slots which I have populated with 2 x gen 4 4TB m2 too. This thing is a beast. I still have my TVS-871T NAS i7 too!

Given the long history of problems with the TVS-872XT as documented on QNAP forum under "TVS-872 dead after normal shutdown...", I would strongly advise anyone considering this purchase to look elsewhere. Numerous NAS failures. I had the dead defective motherboard rev 1.3 after routine firmware update that was replaced by QNAP support with rev 2.0 motherboard. I am still having problems with the revised motherboard with frequent random reboots and "no boot" after recent firmware update. QNAP support would fix it for $1040 out of warranty. No thanks. I don't trust the NAS with my data. Do yourself a favor. Read the forum post. Avoid this NAS!

exactly the same problem you describe with mine

^ This. For some reason QNAP hardware quality control has gone down the toilet. My TVS 872 started faulting 11 months after purchase and FOUR MONTHS LATER they still haven't fixed it. They did return it 2 months after they received it WITHOUT FIXING IT so now it's back with QNAP for them to probably return it. I am so done with QNAP at this point.

I agree with most as depicted in this overview; It is indeed a big shame (bad, very bad) that QNAP did not include 10GBe on-board with the TVS-h874T. *Unless* you buy the non-Thunderbolt i9-version! Then it comes with 2x 10GBe card pre-installed. As the i9 was only available as a pre-order, we opted for the i7 without Thunderbolt and slapped-in our own QNAP 2x 10GBe cards. In our applications, where we used a lot of TB enabled devices including QNAP's, the benefits of 10GBe do start to outweigh the (certain) limitations of Thunderbolt. We also have quite a few TVS-872XT's, mostly i7 version (and one where I did replace the i5 CPU, a simple hardware-hack). And indeed, had 1x TVS-872XT failed on us (boot-loop, a known issue) that was, has to said, was quickly resolved by QNAP Support under warranty. Excellent stuff! Do bear in mind though, that the replacement TVS-872XT (main-board) will *no longer* have the audio-inputs and outputs! If I compare the TVS-872XT versus the TVS-h874T, yes there are some performance improvements but in our applications, it is not really (a noticeable) groundbreaking improvement. So we continue to keep using the TVS-872XT too, until we replace them eventually. BTW, I do believe the TVS-872XT was one of the first units that was made QuTS-Hero compatible when QNAP announced ZFS support. Which was a debacle on its own as QNAP announced more "older" systems would also become QuTS-Hero compatible but never happened...

I purchased last week the TVS-h874T in the intel i9 / 64GB memory. It came with gen 4 2 x 4TB m2 populated too. Its a beast! only paid £2500 lol I also purchase the m2 card Robbie mentioned that comes with 10GBe port + 2 x m2 ssd slots which I filled with another gen 4 2 x 4TB m2. I still use a TVS-871T intel i7 !! its never mentioned as its in the shadow of the 872 lol.

@@speedbird737 Please do keep an eye on your "10GBe port + 2x M2 SSD slot"-card, we had issues it ran very, very hot. Not sure yet if we are going down a RMA-route as QNAP Support has not been contacted yet if this is "normal". (we do have a ton of other QNAP cards in use, in different types, shapes and sizes, but the first time we notice this issue in our applications)

Question.... I am looking at the QNAP TS-932PX-4G 9-Bay NAS Enclosure for video storage and no higher than 4k editing over a 10gb network. My question is, is the ARM 1.7 GHz ARM Cortex-A57 processor going to work or should I just jump into the TS-855x or the TS-h973AX-8G? I am on a budget and funding this studio build with my own money from another business.

Just picked up an 874xt for $1,450, couldn’t pass up the deal. Hopefully will be a good enough upgrade for my Plex server :)

me too! I paid £2,500 here in UK for the 874T but it also came with 2 x gen 4 - 4TB nvme m2 and 2 x 10GBe ports/card already populated! I added m2 card that robbie mentioned in the video which replaces the 2x 10GBe card with the 1 x 10GBe and 2 x m2 slots which I populated with another gen 4 - 4TB ssds.
