yeah, after hearing the first dropped tracks I thought it would have more of Era vibes, but daym it's very Lullabies-like in a lot of places. And it's great, I'd much prefer that, than the direct Villains sequel, lol

Edit - Coming back to it a few months later, after repeated listening. One thing I have always felt about QOTSA - Their best album is their newest album. They have a knack for outdoing themselves every time. SFTD was the first time I heard them, and I got the earlier albums straight after. Then Lullabies came out and I realized there was a whole lot more going on. Then with each new album, it kept climbing.listening to ITNR, nothing has changed. They still keep getting better with each new album. And Sicily is the goddamned business. I love the whole album, but this track is hands down the winner for me.

This is Dont Drink Poison 2.0 from The Desert sessions. Kinda clever what Josh did having these different iterations of qotsa to trial new sounds..or just get out what he thought wouldn't work in Queens..take Eagles Of Deathmetal with the heavy falsetto now found in most Queens songs. Watching the latests shows you can really see Josh has never been more comfortable in his skin.. i think its gonna make for the most interesting work thats still yet to come from these bad ass musical geniuses

Though I'm a QOTSA fan since 2000 I dismissed this when it came out. I saw it as a Frankenstein experiment. I listened it for the first time a few days ago. After 6 or 7 listens I don't hesitate to admit it's the most cohesive and mature album Josh Homme has done. No filler songs here. In my opinion better than Rated R and Songs for the deaf
