Actually, he's running a bass guitar through three different amps and a shit tonne of effects pedals. One amp provides the bass tone, whilst the other two simulate a "fake" guitar tone using a POG Harmoniser pedal which effectively shifts the pitch of the bass guitar up a few octaves to give it the guitar sound. I imagine he uses regular bass strings though
