Hi Qui, because you seem to be the Guru for the Pa5x on the internet, I would like to ask you: why does every Style of the Genos (1&2) sound so much like a lovely mastered CD production and the PA5x with all its capabilities doesn’t. I ordered the Korg now but only because 88 keys are available. But on the other hand I still feel like haven’t made the right decision because of the final sound. The Pa5x sounds so centered and compressed, not so airy and with this precise pressure the Genos has. Do you share my option? Is there something one can you with the settings on the master or with the finalizer or something? Or do we need to steal the styles of the Genos and put them into the PA5x somehow. 😂

no i don't share your opinion, but you are right on the CD production sound of the yamaha genos, it's really smooth, but I like the raw and dark sound of the korg arrangers much more, it gives me the feeling that I play with a live band. The centered / compressed sound is a matter of taste, the pa5x has a limiter tab now with per style and a compressor for the overall sound, it's really easy to modify this to your own liking. My preference is a loud compressed sound, so all my demo's will sound like that. But If you prefer a non compressed sound you can completely turn it off on the pa5x.

I will 1. try to reduce the compression or even turn the compressor off and 2. raise the panorama in the mixer by turning the pan knob on every track a bit further. And 3. give the whole thing a brighter sound with the finalizer. I think this will do a lot to match my taste. And I think I will buy the Artist Expension Pack from Global Sound Sweden. The Demo sounds awesome! A lot to do and spend but better than to use a Genos 2 with an extra 88 Keyboard with aftertouch. Expensive and more over not handy
