Very grateful to hear that you find Arles, with it's 2000 year history, arena and medieval history not to mention the association with van Gogh and his residence there 'supercute'. Most obliged.

Awesome! apologies, just seeing this a week late...wondering if the few things you were on the fence about if you left them home...my experience tells me that if you never used them, you never will, and that if you end up needing them, they have stores in Spain...but you know that! Teasing, of course. So, jealous that you are on such an adventure, and wishing you nothing but blue skies, moderate temps, wondrous adventures and blessings on the way. You continue in my prayers for safe travels. I will catch up with your updates in the days to come...be well!

Excited to follow you again. I know many on the Camino seem to be avoiding the “covid” discussion, but I am due to head toward the Camino at the end of August. I’d love to hear about this piece even if it is a short summary of your experience.

Ikea has the bag that you can bring to the shower or just to keep your clothes dry, 2 different sizes cost like $4. And maybe later you can try a clothing line called Uniqlo of Japan, they have a stuff in there called Dry-ex and Airism for summer, I love those ! Love their Airism tank top bras haha... And Heat tech for winter. I'm like crazy about those haha... Their price is very reasonable so even teachers like me can afford haha...

Always love your videos. Even though I'm a guy these packing videos really help me out. it always fun to see a new nugget of something that I haven't seen before, this time it was the mosquito wrist bands. Any way I start my Camino on the Ingles in August. Can't wait. and Buen Camino!

@@WanderlustingLawyer Arres alburgue is the sister to the much loved Granon on the Camino Frances. U go in the church and go watching the sunset. I highly recommend Arres. The night after Arres I think is Ruesta, a lovely village which is basically a ruined castle and the alburgue is in the middle. I think this day there will be no cafes or bars all day so u need to be prepared. U must go to that foz de lombier. It may be extra road walking but just before u arrive (nice truckers cafe just before) and u walk through a natural gorge and then it’s like a scene from Jurassic park. I also walked the detour to the monastery Pena, which is famous for being built in the cliffs. This is worth seeing but it’s no advisable to do what I did. It really adds to the km to stay at Arres and u have to limit your time at the monastery. It’s a fabulous walk, I know u follow the river for the first few days from France. I want to do this walk from Lourdes next time. Beun camino

@@WanderlustingLawyer One last question, did you buy your trekking poles over in France or did you heck your bag? I fear I'll have to pay $100+ just to get my bag and poles over there and that the airline may loose them. Thank you!!! :)

Hi. Thanks for your videos. I find them excellent, especially as I am planning my first Camino solo. Also love your easy-going non judgemental style. I do have a question on this something you mentioned on this one - why don't you use one of the multi-purpose camping liquids (shampoo/shower gel/laundry soap) instead of the multiple sachets that you mentioned?
@WanderlustingLawyer2 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! 😃 So, I have a lot of very thing hair, and I’ve found thank multi-purpose products make my hair knot up horribly. If I’m not going to have my special conditioner or comb, I need a shampoo that’s gentle in my hair. But an all-in-one product is definitely a good alternative!

Did you weigh your pack with everything in it? Also, how will you be creating videos on your trip? Will you be relying on your tablet? So curious; I’m taking my first trip in September and thinking of creating videos fir family and friends to watch!

Do you check your bag or not? Do you have issues with them letting you take the trekking poles on? What about the bug spray - it looks like an aerosol? Thanks!
@WanderlustingLawyer3 жыл бұрын
I had a regular suitcase as well, which I sent ahead in France (since I was traveling after I finished). So I put my trekking poles and larger liquids in there. You may need to check the bag if you have poles. :-/

Hi, thanks so much for the wonderful info. What was your total pack weight?

A lot! Maybe 25 pounds with water. I am not the best role model for the “pack light method” (and I actually have a beef with the 10% rule). 🙈

I’m hoping to hike it mid May-July, what would you recommend for warm layers, jacket shell, fleece, rain coat, down…?
@WanderlustingLawyer2 жыл бұрын
Hi there - which route? For the Frances, I would recommend one long sleeve shirt, one lightweight zip fleece/down puffer and one lightweight rain coat. Depending on when in may you leave, some lightweight gloves might be recommended as well. Be sure to check out my “layering for the Camino de Santiago video.” 😃

I have seen many of your videos and they are very helpful! I do have some questions though that are things I wasn't sure where to find the specific answers to because of the specific time I was hoping to do the Camino Frances Mid-May thought probably early July. I'm a cold sleeper so I'm on the fence for sleep systems. I bought the Sea to Summit 100% silk liner as well as their 50degree travel down ultralight quilt/ sleeping bag. I'm inclined to bring both, but would I be killing it for that time of year? I think the liner would be too light for me but I fear just having the bag. Any tips...? Another question... (sorry if this is the wrong way to ask all of my multi-questions, but I again did watch the video, but I still haven't landed on a pack yet. I just bought the Osprey Kyte, but it would be nice to find a lighter weight one. I looked in to the one you landed on, but the reviews said it wasn't for shorties like me (5'2.) I like pockets, but am willing to give up some for weight. I've been looking into the Hyperlite pack, but I fear having only an endless bottom with no other entry but the top. In your search, would you happen to have any other pack recommendations for me to try? Thanks for your help!

Your lenient adapter, so you add an adapter for euro voltage?

Sorry I missed this! The adapter is just to make the plug fit; it doesn’t change the voltage.
