Passed my QTS Numeracy Skills Test this morning at the first attempt. I have been using these videos for the last week and thank goodness I did. They helped so much so thank you, thank you for posting. I actually struggled with the mental arithmetic section in the actual test (and thought id fail the whole thing) but got full marks in the calculator section which was much easier and got me over the line. Again, thank you so much, you're an absolute legend!!! Now onto literacy......

watched all your videos and passed! very very helpful. also, someone mentioned a great tip under one of your videos, if you're weak with certain times tables, when you get to the test centre (before you click START) jot down your times tables on the paper they provide. That way during the test you just have to look at your paper and not waste time counting.

I'm concerned about the mental arithmetic, as maths is my weakest area, but this video has shown me that I'm actually making the questions more difficult for myself. For example, the minibus question, I would never have thought of finding out 1/4 of 88 first. That's really put things into perspective. Thanks for this video.

I passed my maths skills test today (second time round, I failed by 1 mark on the first test) This video really helped with speeding me up and getting the answers within the time limit. ... I can't thank you enough. My advice would be to just use the online government practise tests and use these KZbin videos to practise that's all you need. If you are scoring at least 50% on the government tests, don't bother with buying the textbooks etc as you can quite easily self teach and/or use the KZbin videos to help with practical guidance/ understanding for questions you need extra help on. SUCH A HUGE HELP>>>>HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Hi Andy. I passed the test today! Thanks! However I got off to a shocking start. The practise question came up, then question 1, then it skipped to question 3. I immediately called the supervisor in and in the process of telling her what happened I missed question 3 also. She advised me to carry on but my concentration was badly affected. Anyway I passed out of 26 questions. Cheers again. PHEW!

I know it's easy to be scared at this moment, but trust me, when you're sitting in front of the computer screen, in the flow doing the real thing, you don't feel half as bad (just take each question one by one). To be honest, the government practice ones and the real ones, I felt were similar. However, the real ones might try to throw you off a little. For example, I remember that in all the practice ones, they will only tell you to round your answer to 1 decimal place. However, I recall a question I did today that told me to round to 2 decimal places (Specifically 1/3rd = 0.33). Also, keep in mind that the Government practice questiones are outdated, meaning, they don't include area and algebra. However, these two topics are straightforward, and I did not get any of these questiones in my actual one today (though I did in my first attempt!). Good Luck, I hope you smash them! If you need any more advice, feel free to ask!

I designed some additional practice mental arithmetic tests which are available to purchase via my e-learning site. Choose 'Mental Arithmetic Tests 6 to 9'. Try not to feel too deflated, you'll get it next time!

Yes was a linked question, asked to calculate what the total raw score the student achieved, and then second question gave the raw score and age and asked what score the student got. Hope that's useful and many thanks again!

Yes, the time limit on the mental questions is tricky for many students. Keep practising the short cut methods demonstrated on our videos.
