just a thought but if the number 1 cylinder on number 1 engine is at TDC engine number 2 number 1 cyl should be at 90 deg past and number 3 engine cyl number 1 would be at 180 deg past then finally engine number 4 number 1 cyl would be at 270 deg past then in theory the cyl would be constantly aplying hp to the transmission and make more power , just a thought , I resent this as I had grammar errors in the first one I sent sorry
@Circlotron5 жыл бұрын
The principle is right, the numbers are wrong. Each 4 cyl engine fires every 180 deg so the phasing of each number 1 cyl should be 0 deg, 45 deg, 90 deg, 135 deg, then the front engine picks it up again at 180 deg and so on. Less stress on that long and flexy crank and would sound way cool!
@kevt94425 жыл бұрын
It would make no difference in power output, it would only smooth the power pulses. You can't even archive proper balance with 2 4cyl together so there's no point getting complicated with it.

I was waiting for them to get into the timing procedure, but no. Attaching the crank pulley to the flex plate would have to be just right for this to work well and maximize power.

mysock351C; theoretically YES! I believe it could be done with the result of a very smooth running "Masterpiece" (for lack of a better word)!!! The position of the 4 cranks should work together to eliminate any vibration without a harmonic balancer. I can just picture it now; the ?frame? Self disintegrating w/tires going one way, engines (still running) going in 4 different ways, Lada body w/driver(screaming) being launched over finish line...ROTFLMAO!!!!! Captain BUCKLEY (ret.)

I assume each would have to be placed at the same #1 cylinder TDC position? I could imagine mistimed engines would fight each other, catastrophically.
@rustedratchetgarage67885 жыл бұрын
Actually the best way would be putting each engine 90° to the one that comes after it that way they all fire in sequence instead of at the same time

Not so cold that you have to leave a motor running!...…. But, when that old sun goes down like a rock you gotta wear mittens which are fun to work precision with. Fortunately, not so cold you can't drink coffee and film. (Of course you keep a car running with warm coffee and donuts inside). "No booze guys until we get back to home base." Nice video!

Emblematic of the Russian spirit. Power over elegance. Brute force over nuance. When it succeeds like their submarine trucks, gargantuan planes and rockets, its nothing short of awe inspiring. When it fails like 4 motors on a shit mobile, it's hilarious. Win-win.

You should have weld the top of the 4 engines together to make them stay synchronized. When they were shaking side to side it was getting desynchronized, and by that making the motor(s) much less efficient.

This project was pretty cool. The bootedboiz, should check them out, are trying to figure out how to build a twin Honda engine car in a Toyota supra calling it the 2kz cuz instead of putting a 2jz engine their putting 2 honda k20's in it. They haven't started building it yet though but hopefully soon they will. I commented on their video telling them about this so they could see how easily you guys put the engines together. I think their trying to directly connect the crank of the front engine to the front pulley of the rear engine so we'll see how it turns out. Should be pretty bad ass!
