I like when someone shows a detailed and clear “How to” . well done!! . However if I am to buy all the accessories needed it will get me close to the BMW connected ride cradle for mobile phone, which I am actually using. It clicks on the sat nav cradle and the phone is relatively secured inside. It works flawlessly with the Wonder Wheel ( for the connected ride app only of course). In order to avoid dropping my iPhone or exposing it to the elements, I am waiting for the Chigee AIO-5 Play BMW edition which will be available around July this year. You can install it over the sat nav cradle with a click it has its own GPS + Apple car play or android. You can fully control it with the Wwheel and the screen contrast and visibility is better than the mobile phone. This is just my personal opinion. As long as one is happy and comfortable with what he/she has as navigation system nothing else matters. Safe ride.

The Connected Ride didn't exist when I went with this solution. Make sure you watch some independent reviews if you do go down that route, as I live heard many people are disappointed with the unit.

@@theboomerangbiker1966 I already have one say for the last 2-3 years ( I am talking about the one that host your iPhone with the BMW connected ride app). Honestly no Pb whatsoever except worrying about dropping my phone when putting it in and out. When it is really sunny I can’t see the screen as clearly as I see the Chigee one. The wonder wheel works only with the connected app. But so far so good 😊

I agree the Nav 6 leaves a lot to be desired. I have a Nav 5 with no issues. I use a Quad lock for my phone (for calls and music) but like the Nav because of the interaction with the whizwheel to get other info about the bike and the 5 is ok for navigation. Would love a Zumo XT but pockets aren't deep enough at the moment and would lose whizwheel. Just my preference...............

The new ones with the 360 mounts are so poorly engineered that the mounts are in the way of the Allen bolts so it’s impossible to tighten down without easily stripping the Allen bolt. Such a poor design for the most simplistic part of the entire system.

I'm a degree qualified engineer champ, they're called counter bored socket head (or cap) screws, bolts or fasteners and if they're tapered they're called counter sunk socket head screws, sometimes referred to as Allen head screws, but that's an old trade name. Opinions and terminology often varies depending on the region. I trust that helps. www.engineersedge.com/mechanical,045tolerances/drill_and_counterbore_sizes_14163.htm
