Was going to say the same. You should be running all electrics through the ignition (except an alarm) obviously using relays so you aren't drawing power through the ignition switch itself. Very few people would need the ability to charge a device when you aren't riding.

I couldn’t agree more with everything you said. ESPECIALLY the on/off switch for the wireless charger. Definitely helped me decide on not even buying a charging mount and just getting a regular quad lock mount.

Many things has changed now Aaron. There is switch and also be careful, buy vibration damper as many phones suffer lot from vibrations and their g sensor is getting bad.

Hi Martin - thank you for your great overview of the Quadlock Motorcycle Wireless Charger I found it very useful and you pointed out some faults that I would not have noticed, I just purchased the mount myself and are looking at the different ways to wire it up. I checked the one that I purchased and it did include the little O rings on both USB Cables which was good but the battery drain over time is not so good so I think I'll look at connecting a double waterproof USB port connected to a wire that only is active once the bike is switched on. thanks again for your overview and keep them coming - regards Mars

@@MartinTheVlogger yep that was what I was going to say, there's a little on/off switch. But still, it is not really IP66. I suppose you can open the device, solder the usb cable to the pins and route it towards the battery. Don't forget to add a 3A fuse. ;)

I have similar view on attractive things attached on a bike. I don't even like Garmin GPS having fixed cable on his base which would mean I would have to keep it on the bike in RAM ball mount or unplug it from battery every time :-) Because I like to use the RAM ball mount for other things like phone holder or camera I just cut the power cable and attached waterproofed pins on both sides. Now the power cable stays on it's place all the time and when I want to remove GPS I can do so with or without the base. And that makes me happy also because I don't have to keep it on the bike. In other countries or maybe everyone else keeps his GPS mount base (20$) on place because no one would try to tear of the base from the power cable (40$) just for the fun, right? :P

You should never connect anything directly to the battery . You connect it to a key 🔑 on power source . Most motorcycles utilise the rear light power wire . That way your blue light only comes on when the ignition of your Can Am is on . You have the first generation wireless charger , the second generation has a longer shroud that means there is no gap when you plug it in and the connector comes with a rubber grommet

The usb charger. Just put the usb port facing down. Then you dont need to worry about the rain. Just an observation. Seem a better solution then the battery draining wireless charger. The wireless charger does not seem be well thought out for motorcyclist. Use your old case with the stand. And get the quadlock universal kit and stick it to your case. It sticky pad hold like a gopro helmet mount. You can use it on any metal or plastic case for under 20 euro.

One thing I do not like about the charger unit is it doesn't have the tsb lock system . And what I don't like about the usb charger is it isn't waterproof. I with they did a waterproof usb charger or a lever lockable phone charger

I too bought all those products. It appears you have wired wrong your wireless charger. It should wired in a switch formation so that the charger only charges when the motor is switched on and therefore will never drain the battery. It is also worth noting the quad lock ring does not work with desktop wireless chargers.

According to Quad-Lock’s website, there is is power button on the back of the charging head. That should solve the light on all the time problem. Do you not have that on yours?

I have just received the charger from Quad Lock. It seems they have fixed the connector gap problem. Now the socket is very deep and the connector has two rubber seal rings on it!

I really like the minimalistic construction of Quad lock mounts, I use them for both my bycicle and the motorcycle and have been waiting for the waterproof wireless charger for some time already, so for me it was not a question to buy or not to buy it :)

quad lock also sent me the rubber grommet but i have found with mine that now the cable doesn’t click in far enough and will fall out during a ride from vibration. they gave me a partial refund and i i’ve put silicone sealant around the connection to hold and seal it for now. also the standard mount messed up my camera as well ! they’ve sent me a new vibration dampener now.....

You are the only rider here i have seen posting the bad about the wireless charger. That groment they provide for the usb c cable can get lost if you disconnect it often. The other thing no one really mention. Well maybe they dont ride enough in the rain. If you use the phone in landscape. Rain will get into the phones charger port. Not a quadlock issue. But using a cable plug into the phone prevents rain from setting into the phone port in landscape mode. I’ve seen it happen with phone in landscape mode. And nothing plug into the phone port. Ie usb c cable or a usb c dust cap you by on amazon. And the person had to use a hair dryer to dry the port to get the notification to go away and the port to work again. Just a motorcyclist observation from normal uses. The other thing that is a must is the quadlock vibration dampener. Some phones camera’s ios hw do get damage with quadlock and other mounting system. If you are endosing quadlock. I would put that out to you subscrbersas a must have add on. Jmtc.

Jamie, its not bad only. I have good review about them as a general holder. This w.ch. its not good, and i like to share my observation. Its not hate. Also i have to fix one thing. There is a button at the back to turn off the power. However its very bad for riders as its so small tgat you wont press it while you have the gloves on. They need to test before they release their items.

Only way is to hardwire it to the fuse box or trap it to the a circuit like the brake light that is always on when the key is in. Just not well thought out.

The usb charger are useless. I claim & change 2 pcs. Still having problems that don’t charge well. It will show like charge. But it doesn’t gain the percentage. Maybe of the vibration or maybe the USB port get dirty… I don’t know. Quite sad to having not charging when using it. By the way I have the vibration damper install too.

Mine is connected via USB to my bike's stock USB charger on a triumph t120. The charge is very slow, i tested it at about 2% charge in 5 minutes with zero apps running. On my ride over the course of the day the phone continually depleted as it seems the charger kept the battery at it's current percent or went up about 2% over the course of 30 minutes running GPS, Bluetooth and music. Is anybody else having this issue? I'm wondering if maybe my stock USB isn't strong enough? Or is something wrong with my quadlock wireless charger that it is so slow. Appreciate any insight TY

I think that is the main issue - your stock USB charger. Try to connect it to regular battery source, and then test it. even if in garage. but I think that USB is just weak source. Martin

Dont connect the plus(red) cable direct to the battery or else the unit will have power all the time and drain your battery. Try to see if your vehicle have an accessory outlet from the fusebox, or just splice it together with something else that has power when you turn your key(headlight, rear light etc.).

Why, why, why would they use a uabc. I've never had a usbc device last more than 2 or 3 hours of off roading before it shook itself to bits and the conection failed to the point of permanent unusablity making the device an expensive paper waigh. The hole point of a wireless charger is so you don't have to use a usbc or equivalently useless cable jax incapable of working outside the office in the real world.

Nice looking gizmo, but beside clean look i dont see point of having it, to power wireless charger you must connect usb c to usb a cable to some power supply/usually charger with usb a socket, plugged into auxiliary/cigarette lighter socket ,why not simply connect usb c lead to mobile phone and charge it? This is not only thing with this wireless charger, whats the point of having any wireless charger when you still need to connect it to some power supply and you still have cables laying arounds, which beats purpose of "wireLESS" charger, there is no less, its still wired charger. I hope you understand what i am talking about, otherwise this charger looks excellent i was also thinking buying it but then i was wait a minute...

😁😁😁 i wgot your point, but the point is, that this W.Ch is permanenetly connected to ppwer source, and you can hide the cable goint to if, that is going from the baterry directly. It is charging your phone faster than the cigaret lighter socket and just a cable connection. Also manytimes i dont need charging, i just ride and have a phone ahead of me. But when i need charging, all i do is tgat i click a button and it starts charging and i do not have to mess with cables and search for them. Also, when having phone on the bike, and if it is wet outside, sonetimes your connector is wet and it wont charge via cable. Never an issue with W.Ch. 😉😉😉 so this is my point usualy. Also at home. I have one next to computer. I just drop the phone over it and it charges. Before that i had to use 2 hands to plug in cable to the phone 🤣🤣🤣🤣 you see, it make a lot of sense 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

When I connect my phone to QuadLock, fast charging starts and after 3 seconds it turns off and charges slower - fast charging stops working. I using 18 watt power adapter, which is plugged to 12v socket.

@@MartinTheVlogger i use many different power source like Samsung Fast Charger 25 Wats, and 15 wats, 2 different car charger QC 3.0 and powerbank which using PowerDelivery and QC 3.0 - All the time same result - Charging starting fast and after 3 second slowing down to normal Charging :/ My phone is okay, i tried to use Samsung Wireless DuoPad and everything is fine, phone start Charging in FAST MODE and nothing happend but with quad lock is same problem. On quad lock site is information that their QuadLock Wireless charger support 10W android fast charging 🙄

The rubber seal isn´t a real solution or? The main weakpoint is still the usb-c connector itself, why not use SAE connectors all the way? They use SAE, USB-A and USB-C. There are 2 issues. 1 yup the rubber thing is tgeir solution - but to be fair, tgey gave all of us- who has pre-order it without knowing the issue, a big discount. 2- the bloody cable keeps unplugging, because of- suprise- because of vibrations... jeeezus.. one wrong thing in my review, there is the power off button at the back... tiny as hell, but i dont think it is a game changer for you brother ..

@@MartinTheVlogger I’m glad the video was of some help. I bought the wireless solution from SP connect. I worked ok with my iPhone X but since I have upgraded to iPhone 12pro it doesn’t work. I bought the new phone case which is a very poor design and obviously a rushed job to get it to market on time. The charger won’t work because the iPhone 12 requires qc3 charger and not the qc2 charger that SP sold me only 2 months ago. I’m very unhappy with them. I wish I’d chosen the quad lock option. Can I ask where you got your 12v to USB socket, was it supplied by QUAD lock? Great video by the way 👍😁

@@demonkey123 SP has a new holder that will be magnetic based and i think they have put a lot on their shoulders. 12V its from BRP - motorbike manufacturer. Never used it.. well once, for compresor for flat friend tire :))) i think QL is rushing few things as the "war" its there. But in general i love them. I just dont like when you pay 100something eur for product that is super promoret, well packed, well design - shape wise, and then functional things dont work. But i will fix them during winter. What i have to say, QL has paid i think 50% back to each customer for fixing it on our own. You have had an option to accept it.

NOT WIRELESS!! Still requires it to be connected to the battery so it's false claim. Wireless should be no wire and should only have one for charging it at home or by a battery pack. Definitely don't want to plug anything into my motorcycle electrics could cause issues. I had an alarm/immobiliser fitted on my ktm duke and it caused a huge electrical fault and cost £280 for a diagnostic and have alarm/immobiliser removed and etc. These chargers can overheat and can cause short circuits etc and you will have no motorcycle because it will burn on fire. Please just use a battery pack that's intended to be used for mobile phone or laptop charging seriously going to fuck your motorcycle brain up common.

Plus their first product - basic mount is great... so they have their standard, but this was not good. Niw they have fixed it. You know why??
