I just got my Bugs 2C. I can't get it to calibrate compass. It wouldn't do it in my living room, so I took it out to the garden, but It wouldn't do it there either. I did it just as everyone else. Do I need to go to a really wide open space? Can somebody please try calibration in their living room and let me know? Thanks you, guys

Andrew Jackson you can calibrate inside... Just connect handset then spin anti clockwise whilst level 3x then hold nose upright vertically and again spin it 3x anticlockwise the lights will go solid and good to go

I'm surprised at the number of experienced reviewers who don't seem to read the manual before starting a review. Especially in this case since the manual for the Bugs 2C/W is about the best of the "Chinglish" destruction manuals. One of the few features not mentioned is the fact that the headless orientation is set at motor arming (with headless switch off or on) and can be switched in or out at will. To change set heading you have to land, disarm, re-orientate and rearm. Can be useful if your quad is way out there and pointing who knows where! I've posted this on a couple of the more popular review channels as none of them seem to have stumbled on the feature yet.

A new Bugs Go app update just happened. In it is a new bugs 2 se with follow me and circle me function. The new Bugs Go app now houses multiple quadcopter versions. I wonder if a firmware update via the bugs2w sd card slot could achieve the follow me function with the phone on 2.4ghz.... Cant see why not. The se app looks far more in depth with more telemetry available.

Another excellent info video. FPV must use "802.11ac WiFi....5G. Important "tidbit" Just ordered one. Your BUGS2 SE(new silver) was great for comparison, BUGS just added 3 more features, "follow me, circle, and waypoint NAV" to the new one. Again, excellent and detailed T/E. BTW...all newer APPLE iPads and IPhones are 802.11ac. My old iPad2 is not. Nor is my old iPhone4. Good reason to upgrade. Keep flying....

Impressive! Thx! :) Yep, double check your carrier to see if they have rolled-out 4G and/or Gigabit LTE in your coverage area. 4G and/or Gigabit LTE have been promised by most carriers (2017-2018+) and is currently available to limited areas. Your shirt? Reminds me of the tie-dyed, wild-child shirts from the 70's that were so very popular. Kinda cool. :)

I am still a little amazed that no reviewer actually says that its very much like a Hubsan H501-series quad. :-) They amost equally in size, and in a sense almost the same design. I do think this one looks a lil meaner though. :-) It flies nice but I still think the H501-series from hubsan has a better camera.... you can clearly see jello in this camera.
@RichM19677 жыл бұрын
Most of the MJX Bugs will lift an action camera like a gopro, Git2, Firefly etc. and those will allow you to get rid of the Jello.

Hi: Looking to get our next quad after training on a Ares Ethos QX130.... Questions... 1. can you completely turn off GPS or must either GPS altitude or GPS position always be on? 2. In the latter point of your video (around 16 minutes) I thought you were well within the 100m WiFI FPV range you determined yet your phone screen was not showing the camera view? 3. I'm confused if you record the FPV video via the recording ap on your phone or does the quad have a SD card of some sort? Thanks

After looking at description of the quadcopter I didn't see any mention of a memory card for the camera. Does this record to a memory card as well or just a smart/cellphone. I have found that when downloading videos from cellphones/smart phones to the computer a lot of video quality is lost, so there goes your video and it becomes just another junky looking video. Other than that I like everything this drone had to offer and will get one if it had onboard video recording on a memory card.

I switched GPS off to regain control... was it flying to guandong province in china? How do you set the home location?

Thank you for the very detailed and informative video. Do you know how the Bugs2w sets the home point for RTH? I mean once you calibrate it and take off and then land it at another place, will you need to turn it off altogether and go through the process of recalibration to set the new home point before taking off from this new place? Or is it that the home point is reset automatically from the point you takeoff again without a need for turning it off?

Hi Q101 I only have a 2.4G phone so I have a few questions about the MJX Bugs B2W. Is it possible to fly this drone, .. and control the photo/ video to the built in SD card, with just the controller and not connecting to the 5.8G FPV at all? I'm looking for an inexpensive Headless/ GPS/1080p/ Brushless drone/ quadcopter, and have also looked at the Hubsan H216A (but I believe this MUST use the app to fly the quadcopter at all :( ) ... and also the Hubsan H501S, which is out of my price range at the moment. Yes, if FPV is not important, recommend looking at both the Bugs 2C (and not Bugs 2W), and the Hubsan 501C. Hi, I have all the parts and cables I need to mod my Bugs 2 to radio frequency FPV from my SJCam. However, the one cable I cannot find is the one that goes from (USB mini) my SJCam to the battery intput balance plug and to the transmitter output plug. I have been able to find some cables that go to the transmitter but the plug on the cable that goes to the balance plug is for a much smaller battery and therefore, It will not connect. My question is it possible to purchase the correct cable(s) premade or will I have to mod a cable to fit the the battery balance plug? Basically I need the cable(s) that run from the SJCam to the transmitter and the cable that also runs from the transmitter to the battery balance plug. If there are existing cable(s), would someone be so kind as to direct me where to purchase them and/or what the name of them is? Thank you very much for reading and if possible for responding. Much appreciated!

@Quadcopter1016 жыл бұрын
No the propellers shouldn't require balancing out of the box.

Quadcopter 101 Does the bugs b2w have the same motors as the husban h501s?
@joecro84637 жыл бұрын
Hello again "Quadcopter 101". Many thanks for your review of the MJX "Bugs 2" brushless motored quadcopter. It was a fantastic review, and like many other reviews before it I thbnk you pushed me over the edge to buy one. With brushless motors, GPS, altitude hold, stable video, etc etc. I think it's a must have for the price. Many thanks again for the great review of the MJX "Bugs2", and as always, very best regards. Joe Cro

I actually took this on vacation with me (along with the DJI Spark). So yes, I do think that the Bugs 2 is a remarkable quadcopter.

I appreciate your advice, and could easily tel by the enthusiasm in your voice during the review that you really liked it! I think I'll go looking around for the best price and buy one! Very best regards, Joe Cro

Today was my first day flying my Bugs 2w... one thing I noticed was it drifted a lot in the wind.. how can I stop this, I thought they had position hold.. or am I also mistaken about that function .. regards.
@Quadcopter1016 жыл бұрын
It has an excellent GPS system and position hold. There is a button just below the left stick. That button lets you turn the GPS position hold on and off. Move it to the right to ensure the GPS position hold is activated. Also recommend watching the above video starting at 7:25 for other tips on this drone.
@Surferant6666 жыл бұрын
Quadcopter 101 thank you for the quick reply, the bugs 2w was on gps from the beginning, but seemed to drift quite a lot above 30m, so had to apply opposite stick to maintain position. I almost lost it over the tree line - luckily i pressed rth in time. Am i missing something or was the wind just too strong for the gps? It could easily fly into the wind manually. Oh and i had approx 9 sats locked
@Quadcopter1016 жыл бұрын
9 satellites is the bare minimum for a satellite lock to maintain position. Chances are you lost one of them in flight, which caused the drifting. I always let a GPS drone sit on the ground to get at least 11 satellites before takeoff to prevent loss of GPS lock.
@Surferant6666 жыл бұрын
Ah ok, great, so it should hold in windy conditions if i leave it hovering in gps mode with 11 sats. ill go out and try that later. thanks qc101
@Quadcopter1016 жыл бұрын
No. I meant don't even take off from the ground until you have at least 11 satellites locked on. If you takeoff with only 9, you might lose one in flight. If it momentarily drops below 9 satellites, the drone will automatically switch from GPS to altitude hold mode, where it will drift with the wind.

Hi, what do you think it is gonna cost?
@Quadcopter1017 жыл бұрын
I think that it's about $40 more than the "C" (camera only) model. Here's one retailer's listing goo.gl/Tf7tri Not sure what the difference is in Standard vs Professional version?
@howardworf67607 жыл бұрын
How do you record video from the camera? Is it done to the phone from the FPV signal or is their an on board SD/TF card?
@Quadcopter1017 жыл бұрын
+Howard Worf on board microSd card.
@howardworf67607 жыл бұрын
Thanks - I couldn't find out from the specifications listed on any of the retailer's sites. And apologies for 'their' instead of 'there' - doh! Somehow I missed you explaining this at the beginning of the video too. Sorry. And it looks like none of the phones in the house have 5kz, but I've got an 8" tablet that does.

Hi sir, what phone model did you use to connect in the bugs 2w because mine can't connect to my phone. My phone model is asus zenfone 3 max
@Quadcopter1017 жыл бұрын
As discussed in the video, and also listed in the cons of the video description, this phone uses 802.11ac 5G WiFi. Not all phones have this capability. As per the following site, your phone has 802.11b/g/n Wifi (not ac). Unfortunately it will not work with your Bugs 2W. www.gsmarena.com/asus_zenfone_3_max_zc520tl-8207.php

can anyone tell me how high the heli goes when you press return tobhome. I'm at park and suddenly it shoots 2x higher than trees. I think I went to hit camera but hit home instead.
@Quadcopter1016 жыл бұрын
I think that the default return to home altitude is 30 meters. But the idea of the climb is to avoid hitting any trees, homes, or telephone poles/wires on the return flight.

Sir On the bugs 2w is wifi fpv is really good or not or what is the maximum range of fpv and will fpv lags under 300m or worked great plz help .I am really confused which one to purchase b2w or b2c is it worth spending 30$ more on b2w .
@Quadcopter1017 жыл бұрын
Maximum FPV range is between 200 to 300 meters. But it is worth it as it uses 5G WiFi (not the older 2.4Ghz slow data stream WiFi). BUT you must have a 5G (802.11ac) WiFi capable phone to use it. If you have an older phone, the Bugs 2W FPV may not work with it. Do not purchase unless you are absolutely sure that your phone can receive its WiFi video (Google your phone's WiFi specs).

No I have not. But it would be best to ask your question in the following forum. There are many owners of the Bugs @ there, and they would be better able to answer your question www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?2870099-MJX-Bugs-2-B2W-GPS-1080p-Camera-5-8-FPV-2km-range-Dual-way-transmitter/page168

A word of caution for those endurance fanatics who will no doubt continue flying this fun little quad (within the 100m high/300m distance envelope) after the 2-bar battery warning starts. Make absolutely sure that there are no trees, buildings, kids' swimming pools, fish ponds etc within that 15m radius of your take-off point! If you are between the 2 envelope limits when the battery drops to 1 bar the quad will fail-safe RTH to your take-off point without too much trouble. BUT.. if you are passing through the inner envelope when the change occurs you can bet your bottom dollar that it will drop directly and uncontrolably right where you don't want it to! And no, I haven't.... YET! ;-) (EDIT - the above has been found to be not completely correct! During battery fail-safe RTH you have no control during return AND while it is hovering & deciding when to land. You cannot cancel the auto landing BUT - during descent you get stick control back & can guide your Bugs to a safe landing. So just fly above all impediments you may encounter during a battery RTH and all will be sweet!)

Hey quadcopter, would you say the force 1 F200C is a better drone than this one in this vid?
@Quadcopter1017 жыл бұрын
The F200C is a rebranded version of the MJX Bugs 2C. The F200C does not have live FPV video reception like the quadcopter shown in this video, and can only record video to a microSD card onboard the quadcopter.
@chrisyork67527 жыл бұрын
Ok thank you, also does the bugs 2 C have the same flight distance as the one mentioned here?
@Quadcopter1017 жыл бұрын
Yes. but again you'll not be seeing real-time flight video while flying. You'll need to fly using the following skill kzbin.info/www/bejne/p5W8hXacn7qJjNE

hi wanna ask what the different with bugs 2c?any big gap between them?thanks
@Quadcopter1017 жыл бұрын
+Good Yeah Bugs 2C does not have FPV. Although it does have a 1080p camera that records to a mictoSD card, you can not view the in flight video view while flying.
@bagusputra75827 жыл бұрын
Quadcopter 101 so when bugs 2c on flight it cannot show real time video record?can i get the recording video copy from mjx apps?
@Quadcopter1017 жыл бұрын
No. As the 2C does not have any WiFi capability there is no app for it. You will need to instead manually download the recorded video from the microSD card. You can do such with a USB card reader with your computer, or by placing the microSD card into your phone's card slot (if it has one).

Go into your phone's WiFi settings, and see if 5G WiFi is mentioned there. If not, you likely have 2.4Ghz WiFi which will not work with this quadcopter.
