This segment from the February 10, 1985, episode of the series “Folks” features Genevieve Stewart’s report on the history of the quadroon balls in 19th century New Orleans, clandestine events where white men met free women of color, who would become their mistresses. She visits the Orleans Ballroom at the Bourbon Orleans Hotel in the French Quarter, one of the possible sites of the quadroon balls. Stewart also interviews Clive Hardy, the archivist at the University of New Orleans, who discusses his research into the history of the quadroon balls. Host: Rob Hinton

Guy is lying about creole balls they were educated in France much higher than whites. The creoles were children of the plantation owning moors who ruled Spain for 800 years kicked out in 1492 captained Columbus ships started the first plantations in America the first slaves were natives and Europeans they owned slave pens in Algiers louisiana you can still see the star and crescent of Islam on new Orleans police cars. Blackamoors made children with their white slaves as they had done in Spain and Europe the word slave comes from Slavic women enslaved by moors. Look up The Sundry Act creole moors still had so much power in New Orleans that the state capital was moved to Baton Rouge after the Civil War. All history is a lie racism didn't start till after Civil War look up royal German moors coat of arms images you will see how they looked.

@@johnmendoza5907 they call some of those plantation owning moors... jews. Anyway be it either moor or jews... they weren't necessarily favorable to the black man.

Just stumbled across this video for Black (Créole) History month. Let me tell you a little something about my people (culture). We are not a monolith. When you think of all of us Black folks by the billions over centuries... We can say your book(s) might hold some of our truth. Yet, there is so much untold by us a whole new cosmos could be made. We keep our scared secret and our practices private! Mèsi bokou, boug 🎉

It seems the Republican playbook doesn't change much of over the generations. Get in power, disenfranchise everyone that's not white and wealthy to maintain and increase that power.

She appears to be a Louisiana Creole of Color, a mixed race African American with European ancestry, like many many New Orleans folks.
