Quadropolis Review - with Tom Vasel

I reviewed this recently and thought the same. It's quick, very easy to teach, and looks great, I like the bright and colourful app like artwork. I'm cool with Classic or Expert, maybe more to Classic just because of time length but unlike some games I'm not bummed out playing the basic mode. Comparing this to Suburbia is apples and oranges. Between Two Cities I didn't go for that much, that one had very limited choices and you had no control over your partners choices so it almost felt a little random and unpredictable by the time you scored up. The buildings were also less interesting. In my collection also, best of 2016 thus far.

Already saw Rodney's take on this one, and I really liked his gameplay video also. I was wondering a little more about it and then I saw Tom's review today. Awesome. I've added this to my to-buy list. Done and done :D

This was a no buy for me. i have most of the Days of Wonder games, but I did not enjoy it. I like the components and insert. But the player boards, and game board are so flimsy. I've played it a total of five times and it is kinda boring. It wasn't for me, but some ppl may like it!

The kiddie art kills it for me. Plus, wasn't between two cities just like this but better? The Dilluvia picking of tiles is not enough to carry it,imho.

+anxietydown Not having played this first hand yet, this looks like it has a little more player interaction. Id be curious to see what he has to say on the relative merits of this game vs Surburbia though.

I'd have to say that the basic version is not worth playing. It is way too short, you spend more time setting up the tiles then playing. There isn't also any depth of strategy. There is always one best choice, one ok choice and that is about it. In the worst case, you can force your opponent to pick a slightly sub-optimal tile, but they'll all end up scoring the same at the end of the game. For 2 players, think 20 minutes and a bit of a waste of time. The expert game? It is better, but still not really mind blowing. I think this review really overrates it and you would be better off paying $5 for the inevitable app. That is really what it is made for.
