Our daughter was 2.2lbs when she was born..shes our only child so we spent every waking moment in the hospital with her that first few weeks..I could not get over the other babies parents would come in for a 10 minute visit to there babies..when I was there at 8am weighting to get into see her ..they said she wouldn't be able to go home till after her due date, she was 7 weeks premiture but unlike normal babies she didn't drop any weight after birth she started putting it on..she grew like a weed we got her home after 4 short weeks which was unheard of for such a premature baby..shes almost 19 years old in vet college and is 6" 2" she has been looking down at me (I'm 5" nothing) since she was 15 years old ..shes our miracle girl..she was conceived after 19 miscarriages..

I myself had a nicu baby. He was not a preemie but he had a rough birth and had some respiratory issues. I like you was there from open till close. I am lucky because my husband would take our 12 year old to work with him and I was able to pretty much live in the nicu. He would drop me off every morning at 730 and come pick me up at 8pm. Luckily they had a pump I could use while there. I noticed out of the 20 babies, only one other mom was there all the time. It made me so sad for those babies. They can chemically sense when mom isn’t there. Every night I would leave a bit of my breast milk on a nursing pad and stick it in his crib. That was one of the nurses suggestions to give him comfort at night(he would think I was still nearby.) although I did feel very sad for those babies, I also understand that maybe some of these parents didn’t have supportive spouses or didn’t have reliable transportation or had to work. I consider myself very lucky that I was able to stay with Grayson throughout that rough time. It was 3 weeks in the nicu and now he’s a healthy 2 month old. No lingering issues thank god! Glad your baby grew up so healthy! ❤

Do not ever judge others as to how they deal with this situation. You do not live their lives. Hope you have put railings on that pedestal you have put yourself on. You could be in for a very nasty fall.

We shouldn’t judge or assume that we understand the motives of the ten minute visitors. Everyone has their own story, struggles, and limitations. No one walks the same path when a parents infant has to be exposed to the NICU. It’s a story that unfortunately is told but never with the same details and to judge a parents actions really isn’t fair.

I was extra lucky when it came to my son having to be in the NICU. He wasn't premature but he had a muconium encounter during delivery and he had to be on IV antibiotics for a week before he could come home. I lost a lot more blood than I should have and they kept me for an extra night, and the day they discharged me I went to go home just to shower and change before coming back to the NICU and I cried my eyes out leaving the hospital for the first time without my son. But in my community hospital, the NICU does not close for parents, and so sometimes I would go home at the beginning of the night shift nurse change and get a few hours of sleep and be back by 2am. Most of the time I slept in the recliner chair in his little room. I'm so glad they let parents in 24/7 at that hospital and feel very lucky for that. I didn't even know it was a thing that other hospitals didn't allow that.

I AM an IDENTICAL QUADRUPLET AND THIS DOCUMENTARY has me in tears. So moving, so inspiring, so relatable, these girls are truly a miracle from God. And the mom is literally a saint, such an incredible and strong woman who persevered through so much. At times she felt helpless, but she had faith in God and did everything in her power to serve her children. My brothers and I were lucky enough to be born six weeks premature, while these girls were born 11 weeks premature. We were 4lbs 7 ounces each, while these girls were less than 2lbs each. We were able to go home after four days in the hospital and never were in the ICU while the Aversa quads spent over five months there and then had to go back during Christmas time. My mom watched this with me and made a comment after seeing the first time the whole family went to the store that everyone likes to look at and adore identical quads or that many babies but nobody wants to do the work, which makes this mother even more incredible. I loved hearing how Kiara is the leader, I took on the leader role with my identical quadruplets brothers. And hearing the Dad says he wants a boy reminds me of my mom always saying she wanted a girl because she got five boys, four identical quads and one older brother, who happened to be born the same year and month as the Aversa Quads. Overall this documentary moved me to tears with its relevancy and overcoming such a challenge to birth and raise these miracle quads. You are all truly a miracle and it is these stories that continue to give me hope in our planet and in humanity knowing there are such incredible people out there like you all. What an amazing story.

I used to work in the NICU and I can't tell you how much I loved those tiny babies! Very few didn't survive; it was a great hospital!! I worked as a unit clerk but was able to hold and cuddle the wee little ones! Sadly, I left the state so had to give up my job. It was definitely the BEST job I'd ever had! I did get another job when I moved in the newborn nursery! How could someone not love working with the babies?

Mel Alex Bonding can be affected even with vaginal births and the baby handed directly too you. My first baby I had an epidural and was induced. My second wasnt induced and I didnt have an epidural. I feel that I have a stronger bond with my youngest and Ive had to fight to get myself to bond with my eldest. Dumb drs and their 'your baby is going to be too big so either we induce early or c-section early'...My son was under 6 lbs ...so much for the projected 9lb baby! Mel Alex - ...... This was filmed in 1996. It says that in multiple places in the documentary, it says it in multiple comments, and there's a lot of discussion in the comments about how the kids would be over 20 years old now. There's even a comment on this video from one of the older girls, which I sincerely doubt she'd be doing if she was only 6 or 7. So any concerns over the mom getting "plenty of cuddles soon" are a solid 20 years too late.

I would like to express to all those commenting on the ear piercing scene that I do not appreciate the comments made towards my mum branding her a 'Wacko' in doing so! While everyone has the right to freedom of speech, all parents also have the right to raise their kids how they choose without their decisions ever being questioned. At the end of the day when its comes to parenting and raising your child you will always do what you believe is best regardless of the opinions of others. I too had my ears pierced when I was baby and that is something that I too will be doing when I have kids. As mentioned in the documentary it is a tradition in the Italian culture.

there are a lot of people in the world who are doing that, even in a lot of countries they don't have a lot of money, but that's important, and not always because it's pretty. and Rosa: there will be always people who have nothing to do than criticise other people

Betty Smith, the are still very much in the tradition of, the man work to put good on the table, and the Mom take care of the kids and meals. She said he never take a day off, 6 kids cost cost a small fortune to raise, they love one another, and are happy with little in life, their family is everything to them

Yea. News stories make things too right. After the liars leave, the reality of the moms and dads and the rest of the family and caregivers must deal with reality. I admire their positivity. But in the end, I truly hate the media spin that makes it all good and nice. While I truly appreciate the parents perspective. One can never judge another parent. Ever.

piercing ears of an infant is safer than as a little girl because the child will not play with her piercings and infect them. Of all the things to pick on! And if their dynamic is she makes lunch, then who the heck are you to judge?

chas saucer That is incorrect The Carles Quads were born in 2006, and we were born in 1996 so that means there are 2 sets of identical Quads in the UK if not more. Don’t really understand why she feels she’s the only one.

Im just kinda confused. As small as they are and the fact that only family are usually allowed in a neo natil icu isnt it dangerous for the baby's to have other people. (a whole darn camera Crew w lights and all!) there is a NICICU ? Their typically is a protocol for the touch (skin to skin) and light due to the extreme sensitivity of these preterm children ........none of this seems to be being followed here I just don't understand why.

Her mom looks like her sister omg!! I can’t imagine having 4 babies like that naturally….terrifying. I’d tell em to take everything while the doctors were already rooting around inside for the babies 😂 No more! I’d like to add that if piercing ears when the child was that young was “natural” they would come out with them on. They’re barely meant to be out of the body yet (since they were so premature) and that’s actually a concern? 😂 You’re not even sure if you can keep them out of the hospital yet and you have to jazz them up? 🙄
