@@Scudmaster11 It's more power expensive tho. The first ARM CPU ran without being connected to the power source, basically running with only the electricity coming in with the data it had to process. There's a reason why Intel and AMD are afraid of ARM.

@Hardcore_Remixer that isnt impressive at all. If you gut out CPU with no true registers, cache, or anything .. you will achive that no added power souce... but its ganna have major problems... the data accused isn't a constant stream like DC.. nor AC.. its blocks... so a Constantly high or higher data bus is infact the power input.. still not impressive in any way shape or form as its not useing some of that power from the data bus.. the data bus is overcompensating by throwing more power down the bus

Samsung had a specific Architecture license for their mobile/laptops, they only paid to go up to a certain core spec, also the ARM license is specific if you purchase the license for say laptops/mobile that those chips your designing must be for those devices... When they purchased Nuvia their Architecture license was for server baed chips, and was Non-Transferrable, doesn't matter that Qualcomm purchased Nuvia and its IP, it didn't have the legal license to transfer the tech from the Nuvia server chip into their mobile/laptop line. They needed to purchase a new license for the new chip design into the mobile sector.... Also Qualcomm has been just as evil if not more so regarding their royalties and licensing for their mobile modem chips. So it's Karma really... They should have done things properly, instead they thought they could just get away with it, being a big buyer.

It is very common in licensing agreements for IP - when the company is bought/sold or even when parts of it are bought/sold all licensing agreements become null and void - that is why they get spun off into new companies either to keep using the IP/licensing agreements or it is a lot easier to agree new terms - ARM has a very strong case here
@TamasKiss-yk4stАй бұрын
Especially when the license were totally different, Snapdragon "only" had the right to build their chip from the pre-designed cores what ARM provided, they not even designed a core before.. so the Oryon core design is out of this.. just remember even the Cortex-A77 cores in Snapdragon 865 was also inside the Exynos 980 and Dimensity 1000 too.. those are not designed by Qualcomm, it's an ARM designed core..

Why do you think that? Even MediaTek overtaked Qualcomm in market share with their pretty competitive chips (even in flagship category in the past few years..), Qualcomm lost 5% while MediaTek gained 7% market share in the past 1 year, and recently MediatlTek have more market share like Qualcomm.. so if Android manufacturers can't pick a Snapdragon chip do you think they will simply not manufacture any phone or just choosing a MediaTek chip instead..? And ARM actually doesn't care who pay the license fee, if losing Qualcomm but MediaTek doubling the fee, because of doubled amount of chip orders, they technicaly won't lose anything...

The key here is Qualcomm can prove technically that Oryon micro architecture was a "clean sheet" design. They have owned plenty of IP before and their lawyers aren't stupid. IP lawyers!. All it takes is for FTC to agree and support them, then case closed for Arm. 😅😊

I just posted last week the only thing that could bring ARM down at the moment is ARM themselves, especially with them going public and getting greedy. Seems they are doing that right now. RISC-V has it's problems but being open is going to lead developers to it, especially as software (primarily linux and bsd) get more mature on it.

I think that the difference of 3D V-cache tech is going to be only for the Ryzen 9 CPUs which now will have the 3D V-cache accesible by both CCD, meaning Ryzen 9950X3D may be the new king of gaming performance and not Ryzen 9800X3D.

The Z1 extreme CPU is vastly more powerful than anything the GPU can handle and its just a waste of cpu power.
