It only performs better in video editing software like Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve, because of hardware accelerated H.264/H.265 codec support, which AMD CPUs/GPUs and Nvidia GPUs doesn't support. But now, with the advent of the AV1 encoding support on the latest gen Intel, AMD, and Nvidia GPUs, the value of that exclusivity is hugely diminished. In almost every other productivity workload, it is beaten by the Ryzen 9000/7000 competition.

@@computerscience1101 3D rendering like Blender? 9950X is still faster. Plus, buying these chips for 3D rendering or AI workloads is stupid because even a current or last-gen entry level dedicated GPU (which you will mostly like have if you're buying such expensive CPUs, or even care about productivity workloads at all) will blow any CPU out of the water by a huge margin in those workloads.

@@Dhruv-qw7jf "Any GPU will blow away these CPUs" yeah it's graphic intensive means that's true for gaming also? Why we need X3D's when pentium can do the job done. Right? No! Whatever is happening in hardware level depends on the speed of the CPU how fast it processes the instructions and sends it to GPU for processing that data and sends it to GPU.

I will wait a year or so until I get the new amd chip because some issues might rise up and I don’t want to buy a faulty product

I for one would be very sorry to see Intel end. I have enjoyed many Intel processors over the decades. How many of you remember the 286!

Take your bets, is Intel's core ultra 2xx generation a Zen 1 moment or a piledriver moment?

Isn’t it weird that the new Intel CPU’s aren’t using hyper threading? What if Intel tries to design their future processors so they won’t need a license from AMD for it, so that they aren’t cross licensing anymore. Wich means Intel could try to take AMDs x86 license away from them without any major problems for Intel, essentially forcing AMD out of Business or forcing AMD to become an ARM based chip maker.

the ultra series might gain a little gaming performance share back after some driver updates/ windows updates. The 1% lows fps and cinebench performance seem to compliment eachother while the total avg fps just makes no sense with such faster ipc, multi threading performance and improved 1% lows. That being said it looks like the first time since bulldozer i'm going with amd. If i can get a 9800x3D that is.

yeah i mean looking at the results I am just confused, it rocks in areas and sucks at the same time hard in many areas. What is going on with that cpu?

I thought many times about getting a Mac just for fun, but I don't like paying more for less. That keyboard looks good, but I don't need another one. I don't. I really don't. No sir. Don't need another one...

Just shows that Intel own fabs are not that bad after all, now Intel has a few weeks to patch performance before 9800X3D hits

I still stand to my last days, Sony's been doing the same with exclusives and game developing against MS Xbox consoles and NVIDIA against AMD GPUs. Otherwise, why MSI is not launching new AMD models design like they do with AMD? Makes no sense.

The core ultra CPUs are actually so good that easy anticheat considers them cheating.
