I can honestly say… I have been scared I would trash my vacuum pump if I cleaned any outdoor while under vacuum…👍🏻😎. You are a brave man…thanks for showing me it is possible.

I’m really impressed with the attention to detail you take when cleaning those units. It’s very obvious that you take a lot of pride in your work and it shows! Watching how you do things makes me realize I need to step my game up on my maintenances. I don’t really enjoy doing them, would rather run calls or swap out equipment, but I still do a good job. But I’m definitely not using a brush and scrubbing down the units and with that particular Trane package unit, I don’t think I’ve ever cleaned all the leaves out of the top under the condenser fan. I do clean the coil but you’re going above and beyond and that’s exactly how I want to work as well. You have inspired me to start going the extra mile on my maintenances! Even though it’s not my favorite thing, I owe it to my customers to go above and beyond what other companies are doing and always give 110 percent!

If you ask the home owner for some hot water and fill a 5 gallon bucket half way then put your tank in it while your doing pressure and vacuum you'll have no trouble putting in the full amount of refrigerant the unit needs. 👍

Or you just buy an electric heatbelt ;) Cheaper and no water everywhere. Very efficient when you do recovery and when you’re charging ;)

@@Toni-ght Not sure about cheaper 😅 But sounds nice for recovery. 👍

@@T_cole_g never heard of that. Guess the condenser coil becomes the tank and the refrigerant tank becomes the condenser needing to be recovered. 🧐

👍. That infi-con scale has a Very nice Display ! 😉😉 Very easy to read. i'm going to have to look into the price of that scale. a Tip For You -- to make un-sweating a Joint easier when replacing a component with extra tubing hanging out. 1) Just Snip out the Part with Side cutters a few inches from your un-sweat joint. that way You can remove the Part & Get it out of your way to just pull on a just a Few inches of copper rather than pulling on an entire component. 2) spread a little white brazing flux on the joint BEFORE un-sweating the joint. it thins the silfoss and makes it run easier & also cleans the Joint for re-assembly. Worth its weight in gold trick. Well worth the time. 43 years of sweating joints here.

I have a question. How long has Trane, Inc been making and selling the package units? I retired from the Tyler, TX condenser unit plant in 2013 and we were not making package units then at that plant and I had not heard of them either. I started at compressor lay-in in 1995. I brazed for about 14 years. I was a line repair on all 5 lines at one time or another. I was coil-to-unit brazer on lines A, B, and 5. I was an Auditor on all lines and Central Braze but Line 1. That scroll compressor was made at the Natchitoches, LA plant. A black scroll compressor is a L/G. The reciprocating compressors are made in Monterrey, Mexico after 1998. A suggestion on brazing joints: try to get the larger tube hot and feed the alloy on the side away from the flame, as the alloy melts it will travel to the heat. We used 2-tip torches in the plant. I have only worked on the condenser coils at Trane. I worked for a few months in 1998 at AAON in Longview, TX on the traditional fin and tube flat coils.
