I think the question was wrongly interpreted. It was given that they played 8 rounds isn't it possible that the person who took card 1 in round 1 can take card 2 in round 2?

Sir, I did it by going reverse. Assumed all sums to be 256(2^8 =256)in the end of round 8 and calculate all sums accordingly. Was that a logical approach ?

sir how can you make the assumption that it is going to be player no.1 to pick card no.1 , player 2 to pick card no.2 and so on. isnt it possible that in different rounds one player picks the losing card more than once.

He is not assuming. He is just saying that Player having card no. 1 is Player No. 1 for our convenience. Happy learning🙌

I think it is wrongly assumed that player no. 8 is loosing only in the end... Cards are picked after each round... So how come player no. 8 will pick up card no. 8 in each round, 1 will pick up 1 in each round and so on...? This is not what the question says anywhere!

Brother in it was told in Q that each of the friend pick up distinct card , which means each one of them will loose only one time . There are 8 cards with 8 boys so it's common sense that the set will not have to say that each round each and everyone will pick distinct cards.

We can solve by starting from last At the end of eighth round 5th player had k ,end of 7th -k/2 end of 6th -k/4 and end of 5th k/8 . Now consider from beginning assume he had x then at the end of 4th round he has 16x and others have 8k-16x, now the amount left with him after giving the money should be equal to k/8 Therefore 16x-(8k-16x)=k/8 32x-8k=k/8 32x=k/8+8k 32x=65k/8 x=65k/256 Hence, x~o.25k, Correct me sir if I'm wrong plz

he has to double the money for others , suppose if he had 50,000 and he put it all , but to double the amount he only needs to pay 40000 combined , then he could take his 10000 back from the table .
