Great recap. I’m rewatching the Craig Bond films in preparation for the new one, but wanted to skip QoS because it’s just not worth the rewatch. I’ve seen this movie twice and couldn’t remember a thing, the plot is such a mess. Thanks for the nice summary so I can skip straight to Skyfall :)

One thing i dont get, is why Vesper was killed? In the ending, Bond drops her necklace like he didnt give a shit about her. I take it he did love her once. Was Vesper in league with "Quantum"? What did Kabira have to do with anything other than being a member of "Quantum"? The beginning and end made zero sense.

Can you explain the final part? I mean when Bond tells M she was right about Vesper and then he drops her necklace in the snow. I don't get what he means when he tells M was right about Vesper.

At the end of the previous film M informs Bond that Vesper bargained for his life and ended up dying for him, implying that Vesper loved him. Bond had believed that Vesper tricked and betrayed him, but came to realise she really did love him.

Watched No Time to Die first. Then watched Casino Royale, then just watched this. Glad I did. Not because it’s a good movie, but because now I know I’ll never rewatch it again. Whereas if I’m ever looking for a great movie to watch I’ll watch Casino Royale

It's my second favourite movie in the CraigBond series! It's flawed and messy but it gets the important things right, like a satisfying character arc for Bond. After Vesper's death he's driven by pain and rage and vengeance. By the end of Quantum he's found some way out of that. I really like how it's so visceral and violent, but not in a way that feels gratuitous. It's like there's a poetry to the violence, a kind of expression of Bond's inner state. He's really f*cking angry and doesn't give a damn and he's on the rampage in a way that feels believable. Quantum feels like a sequel to Casino Royale, whereas Skyfall and Spectre feel like they're happening in another universe with a different character, and I really don't like them. Those later films lack the heart and soul of Casino and Quantum.

I love all of Craig’s Bond movies. I prefer some over others, sure, but if it’s a Daniel Craig Bond Film, I love it, no exceptions! ❤️

3:34: When was Vesper's ex Yusef Kabira determined to be a bad guy and a part of Quantum? I thought he was kidnapped by the people behind Le Chiffre and used as a bargaining chip to force Vesper to betray Bond and steal the winnings from the Poker game so that he wouldn't be murdered

I think in that scene that they show here from the end of quantum it reveals that Vespers boyfriend what's part of some crime ring or something and his con was to make someone like Vesper fall in love with him and then pretend he's kidnapped to get Vesper to pay a big Ransom

They find out the truth in QOS that Kabira is a mid-level soldier for Quantum. His job is to seduce high ranking women in governmental positions then fake his kidnapping to get money and secrets/info. Vesper didn't know that Kabira was a fake so stole the money from the poker game to buy Kabira's freedom, but she also cut a deal that in return to her handing over the money, they would spare Bond's life.

I was a little lost with this information as well. Having just finished watching the film, I couldn't figure out when Bond determined that Yusuf was part of Quantum. Now, going from this recap, I believe that it is it supposedly implied that at the end, just before Bond abandons Green and the desert, Green says he'd told Bond all about Quantum. I'm guessing that we're supposed to assume that Green included information about Yusuf's role as a seducer and fake kidnapping victim, as well as his current target

There was a writers' strike during the filming and they had to make the film without a properly written script. Daniel Craig ended up having to write some of his own lines. It turned out surprisingly well considering. But yes, it's still pretty messy.

Perfectly obvious that SPECTRE was going to be used again since Kevin McClory was 'holding the aces': however good 'Quantum' was, no way they could rival SPECTRE, which explains why they were a branch of it that has "people everywhere" - not a bad addition to the series.

Then leaves him with the oil. So I assume that quantum sent someone who finally shot Greene in the desert.. At least that’s my interpretation…
