House of Leaves is a real trip. You really need to read it the whole way through to scratch the surface. I felt tempted to say that the plot falls apart, but it really doesn't; it contradicts itself and seems to lose track, but it's all very intentional and a fascinating narrative experience. It does stuff with the Unreliable Narrator trope that makes Fight Club seem straightforward by comparison.

40:35 I really REALLY do appreciate it when people make the effort to pronounce things right!! It's less about getting it right and more about recognizing that there's more ways to pronounce vowels than just the English way and not just assuming it's fine if they say it the english way. Sometimes you get this feeling that ppl think the English way to pronounce it is actually the right way to do it and that can be kinda frustrating...

very very late comment, but I heard in this video you said you were considering making a rabbit hole on 'Shmorky.' Is that the creator of Zalgo Shmorky, or am I thinking of a different person? I heard some wacky stuff around them in passing, though nothing definitive beyond something about sexual misconduct.

1:08:07 NO FUCKING WAY!! Star Trek: TNG is my favorite TV series ever to run. They always had a compelling storyline, interesting dilemmas, and an interesting philisophical note that they would leave the viewer to ponder on. "The Drumhead" to me is not only the crowning jewel in the series but the episode to perfectly encapsulate what I feel Star Trek: TNG was about. It showed me that conflict has never and will never be completely clear cut, and it's important to pick out what's genuine and benevolent, and what is decietful malice wrapped in what is supposd to be righteous; and moreover important to know when you're going too far in an act of seeking sincere justice. Jean Luc Picard was insanely wise as a character, he was never afraid of conflict and action, but his brilliance as a character really shone on in the moments he got deep and erudite, or even down to the small hobbies he maintained. So many inspirational lines came from Jean Luc and by extension Sir Patrick Stewart who(to me) will be the only one who can ever breathe life into that character. I could go on and on about the cast as each one of them was memorable in one aspect or another, but I've already taken up a lot of your time reader(thank you btw), so i'll leave you with this.: If you haven't watched it, you're missing out on such an amazing work of writing and art, do yourself a favor, watch it, it's so good.

I prefer Port Orford and Oysterville to anywhere else here on the coast, personally. They're both more of a drive than Lincoln or Newport or Cannon Beach, but they're very worth it if you haven't been. (Dunno if you're born and raised here or what, I've been out here in Troutdale for about a decade now.) Real question though: feelings on central and eastern Oregon/the painted hills specifically?

Compassion is nice, Fred, but word of advice. No good will come out of sympathizing with WingsofRedemption. Not that you're not allowed to of course, just that you stand to lose more than you gain from it. Not to mention that is misplaced sympathy, considering how he lowkey tried to dox you when you talked to him that one time.
