Excellent rendition by the team. I was so happy to see Ramya (finally she got away from Smule?) in this forum. I had the pleasure of listening to her with Priya Subramanian (Sokkudhe Manam) in one of our family functions where the first song was this same song (nice to see you Ramya). Being a huge MGR Fan family, we specifically selected mostly MGR songs in this function. This movie had a great impact on me (and others during that time) for the story (similar to The Goodbye Girl), Makkal Thilagam and the young Jayalalitha and of course, the one and only MSV. Of course, one thing that the director and the crew did not pay a whole lot of attention in those days in picturization of great songs like this (other examples, சந்திரோதயம் ஒரு பெண்ணானதோ, பேசுவது கிளியா and others) with very mediocre situational picturization. In spite of lack of great picturization, these songs are still sung and stay evergreen mainly because of the music team that includes MSV, Vaali, TMS and P Suseela). Incidentally, I must congratulate Balaji for rendering the phrase "Devi" almost close to the original in the first charanam. Great job by the entire team.

Excellent. A classic duet song of Makkah Thilagam, very different from usual. Great music by MSV, superb lyrics by Vaali and fantastic singing by TMS & PS. Above all, the song still lingers in our minds because of the chemistry between MGR and Jayalalitha on screen. As usual, no mention of MGR who was instrumental in showcasing such wonderful duets in all his films. Coming to today’s QFR, welcome to Ramya who gave a decent performance and also Balaji who has excelled in bringing out the various nuances of the one and only TMS. Musicians have done fantastic job with near perfection. More such songs, please.
