Quarantine from Reality | Vedham Nee | Kovil Pura | Episode 75

Many songs from the Tamil Films have been ignored periodically for reasons best known to no one. Especially, never or rarely attempted in any reality shows, stage shows or competitions.
When the nation is on a Quarantine, Subhasree Thanikachalam launches this new series.
This series will feature a set of rare songs that are rarely heard, rarely performed and she will also try and give some trivia for the songs.
The songs will all be performed by young singers who came out of her shows, which mainly focussed on old songs. The sessions are unplugged and performed with minimum instrumentation. No retakes. One stretch live performance..

Only tears right from seeing his image and the start of prelude by veena by Rajesh (of course tambura Sruthi). Interspersed with flute and violin ably supported by keys. Not to be left, percussion with mridangam and tabla carried the song to its crescendo. I would request great artist like Gurucharan to present some Carnatic based songs of Raja sir on stage (as tukkada), which will be a fitting tribute to the Maestro.

First of all thank you madam for the special song for Raja sir birthday. As you rightly told nobody has used this Gowle raga earlier. It seems Raja sir was also waiting for an opportunity to use this Raga at the right time and he did so. How? Gowle ragam is a very divine ragam. It is used by nadaswara vidwans in the form of mallari in temples when the Deity is taken on procession in the Prakaram. Raja sir could have used normal Kalyani or mohanam or Keeravani etc. But he preferred to chose this because in the situation in film the heroin is going round in prakaram and the hero personified her as Deity. Really a genius. It was like listening to a kacheri in any sabha in Chennai . Kudos to all,

Very impressive performance by my favourite Carnatic Singer Sikkil Gurucharan. This looks to beat the original in performance but Jesudas base clearly made this his own.
