I love Thailand. Have family living there too. Sadly it's not just whether one wants to travel, it's being able to afford both on a monetary level and the extra annual leave needed to be taken, to adhere to quarantine for up to 2 weeks after ones break, on return to the UK. Thailand is still on COVID amber list so quarantine on return is more likely than not. I'd love dearly to see my son who unfortunately I've not been able to for over two years. I'm watching vicariously through your eyes, but not for the luxury of Anantara/Minor Hotels, but for the wonders that are Thailand, its people, food and culture. I pray the everyday Thai gets to reap the rewards of the return of Thai tourism soonest and not just the huge hotel chains. They are a people who are truly all deserving of such. ❤ 🇹🇭 ❤ Thank you for taking the time to visit a true elephant sanctuary. As an Asian Elephant Ambassador from my time at Elephant Nature Park, I advocate for the cruelty of elephant tourism to end and allow them to live as close to freedom as is possible. ❤🐘❤

I walked with Elephants in a good Sanctuary up in Chiang Mai but they were so giddy it was pretty scary to be honest when there's 5 of them hounding you for food ha! Great vid i'm considering going back to Thailand later in the year!

I feel like the westerners’ attitude on elephants are cold and detached in the name of sanctuary. We Thais grow up with the elephants. We himans and elephants cohabitat and coliving together as a family. “Quan” or the handler love and take care of his elephant like his own kid. So I don’t think I agree with the western way.

I am with Alex about the massages - Just don`t do anything - I remember being in Sandles Whitehouse in Jamaica in the spar - it was my worst nightmare!! I truly do not know how to relax, However i was married to a holiday addict for 10 years and have been around the world more times than a satellite - I am now on a holiday gap that lasts for ten years, Best of all we can go on holiday with the beans and not leave the couch!! winner - What camera does alex film on the editing is on point!

I love the idea of the elephant sanctuary. It's ecotourism where elephants live free and won't be forced to walk on the hot surface of the concrete road for tourists to ride.

My Thailand is the bars, night life, fabulous beaches, inexpensive massages and cheap rooms. I started off going to 5 star resorts and ended up in 2 star rooms, having more fun as I mixed with the locals and other tourists and I prefer the beach over pools. I just cannot wait to get back but I am not allowed to leave Australia.

The scheme looks great, looks like they are about to add an option for 7 days Phuket then 7 days elsewhere too, Railay beach (near Krabi) was amazing when we went around 15 years ago. If only we had some spare dosh right now, I'd seriously consider it. The villas look absolutely stunning. Very envious of you both - in a good way! Have a fantastic time.

Always love when I first go into a new hotel room. Just something exciting about the first smells, unwrapping a glass, pulling the paper ribbon off the toilet, looking out the window to the enticing pool, etc. Enjoy getting back to your travels. I know it feels good to get back to normal life. If you encounter any politicians, RUN! :)

So how much does the sandbox quarantine cost for 14 days, if you don't have a sponsor? Looking at the website, they require a RT-PCR test both before travel, and 3 in the first 14 days - adding significantly to the cost.

The 3 RT-PCR tests in Thailand will cost you around 250euros pp, so 500 euro for 2. This Sandbox offer at the Anatara starts just over 100,000 baht, so 2600 euros. Other hotels may have much cheaper offers, starting even at around 30 euros pp/pn (under 1000 euros for 2 for 14 days).

It looks lovely, I’m quite envious. However Beans, please please please don’t go the same way as many other travel KZbinrs. By that I mean being seduced with loads of freebies to luxury resorts and destinations. What makes your channel so enjoyable is that you’ve kept it real. You do things that are affordable and possible for ordinary travellers. By all means enjoy this bit of luxury but I hope you get back to what you do so well. Travelling on the cheap.

Don't worry John.. we're still the beans you know and love 😅💛 (we hope!) What we love most about travel is the variety you can experience.. whether we're staying in a dirty old hostel, a local b&b or a fancy hotel.. Thailand is such a great place to splash out as the value for money is so good. This entire villa, for example, is just £128/night.. and the next place we visit on this trip is £70/night.. We'll continue to show a variety of travel on our channel as that's what we enjoy 👍

My last two holidays have been to Phuket. Easy direct flights from Udon Thani. Two years ago it was just up the beach from you at Mai Khao. Last year on the island of Koh Yao Yai. Not a fan of traditional Thai massages. Feels like they're trying to rip the muscle from the bone.
