My wife worked at Vons during the pandemic, she told me how scared she was, the customers were just crazy! But, she had a lot of compassion, she knew they were just scared, I started making my own pizzas in my outdoor pizza oven, and grilling burgers etc. but we all stuck together my wife shopped for our neighbors bringing paper products, and water. You should apply for "voluntary leave." You have a very convincing and serious reason to leave your place of work. I would speak to your local unemployment office for their advice. It's also possible that the government may make provisions for workers in your situation at some point, so keep researching it. Your friend's life is too precious to risk, and you should not be put in such a moral dilemma.

Sam, I live in Lake Stevens, WA. With my beautiful wife and 3 sons. Our whole lives have been been turned upside down as a lot of others have around the world. Fun throw together ideas. I have had many moments of these types of things myself. If you have a toaster oven or can hit your oven on, toss that mac and cheese mixture with some bread crumbs and bake a short bit. Adds soooo much more flavor. Or leave off the bread crumbs if you are worried about too many carbs, and just toss a litle extra cheese on top. That little mini-dutch oven you ate it out of would have been perfect to bake it in. I have symptoms of the virus, my doctor referred me to get a test and I’m in line waiting. I was told to not leave my apartment for what could be weeks. I took inventory of my food today and I realized that I had bought what I could rather than what I wanted because the shelves were empty. Thank you for the inspiration and thank you for the break from the constant news updates that have been flooding my screens.
