I couldnt be happier for another cooking video! Don’t you apologize for that nor your sweets. We have sweets in the house all the time. They are all made at home, from scratch, and with my little girl. We enjoy spending time together cooking, and she loves to bake! Everything in moderation. My kids don’t go overboard cuz they know it’s there. They don’t go overboard for fear of not ever having it again. We love your family here in this home! It’s real living! ❤

What a precious Angel. 🥰 Sharp as a tack, too. You’re teaching her young which is wonderful. I’m a 76 yr old MeeMaw and my Mama taught me to cook starting at 8. To the point where my Daddy, only a couple of times, after I was grown and had my own daughters (2 for me), leaned into me and quietly said…. “You are a better cook than your Mama”!! What a compliment to us BOTH since SHE was the one that taught me to cook. 😂😂 That Baby girl of yours is SOAKING it up!! Y’all keep it up. Love to you and ALL of yours. 🥰🥰 Oh yeah…..coming at you from Round Rock, TX We’re about 20 min north of Austin. More videos!! More videos!! 😂😂🥰

When it's cold that's the best time to stay in and cook and baking❤ most recipes are using electricity, not propane. That's a really big difference I rather use propane. I take yellow cake mix and corn meal cook use the cake direction and cook until toothpick or a knife comes out clean then cool a little and it's good

This is the recipe I use with my homegrown meal. It turns out pretty good for me. 2 cups plain cornmeal 2 tsp. Baking powder 1/4 tsp. Baking soda 1 tsp. Salt Mix well then add: 1/4 cup coconut oil or lard 2 eggs, beaten 1/4 cup sorghum or honey 1 1/2 cups buttermilk Pour into a hot, greased skillet and bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes or until golden brown. I bake at 425. To give the proper credit for this recipe, it comes from The West Ladies Homestead Blessings Cookbook.

Happy birthday to Andy and to Maggie !! Mine is Wednesday so we are birthday buddies I always put about 2 to 1 cornmeal to my flour in cornbread and add just a small amount of sugar I don’t want cake but just a little flour will do something to it If you had put that amount in one skillet I think you would have been very happy with your outcome Looks delish !

Wife teaches piano and she has recital parties form 75 to 100 people. You are right about the cost of Oreos so we use Stauffer's Chocolate Crackers. About $3.00 for 20 oz bag. Good for me and the kids because I do not like the white centers and the kids do not need it. The dirt cake is the first to go and have had no complaints.

Hey Megan, My husband and I recently discovered y'alls channel. I watched the cornbread episode with fresh meal. I think the biggest problem is not adding any flour to your cornmeal. Self-rising cornmeal has flour in it. Here's a recipe I use when I get N. Ga fresh cornmeal. I got the recipe from one of the mills; either Blairsville or Helen, GA. Old Fashioned Cornbread 1 Cup plain flour 1 cup cornmeal 1 Tbsp baking powder 1/4 tsp baking soda 1 tsp salt 4 Tbsp melted butter 1 egg, beaten 1 to 1-1/2 cups milk or buttermilk Preheat oven to 425. Grease skillet or pan. Mix dry ingredients together. Beat egg and milk together. Add the egg and milk to the dry ingredients. Add melted butter, stir until smooth. Pour into skillet and bake 25-30 minutes. I usually heat my skillet in the oven as it preheats. I also put bacon grease in my skillet. You can half this and it still turns out good (just use a small egg or whatever). Hope you give it a try and that you like it.

When you cut a slice of cornbread, you slice it up the middle, between the top and bottom crusts, and then butter it, make sure it's still good and hot to melt the butter down into the crust and get it on your fingers when you take a bite. That mixture made two thin cakes of cornbread, but if you want thicker cornbread, just make one from that batch. Flour is what gives cornbread a cakey texture, which is why I don't use it. It's cornbread, use cornmeal, not flour. Haven't used baking powder in cornbread in decades, since they started making self rising, it was just so much easier, can't even remember the measurements used back then. Don't know about that 4T of sugar!!!! In my cornbread mix I use self rising cornmeal, a scant teaspoon of sugar, egg and buttermilk, mix, fold in the hot bacon grease and pour it off in a hot cast iron skillet. Cast iron flavors the cornbread, and folks that ain't used to eating cornbread cooked in some kind of cake pan can tell the difference right off if you don't use cast iron. Buttermilk helps to act as a leavening agent, so that might be something to think on, but it sure does leave it good and moist. It's usually yankee cornbread that's got that much sugar in it, and sweet milk, and I wouldn't take lessons from none of them on how to make cornbread. I've made cornbread since I was a youngun, was taught to measure out by what was in the bottom of the mixing bowl, not measuring cups, and adjusted accordingly when feeding bigger crowds. Grew up having cornbread for supper 5-7 times a week, then there was them days we had it for dinner time, and it was just as welcome on them cold mornings when you had to work out in the cold, or just any time of day when there ain't no other food in the house.
