The film shows the important role that nurses have to play in the recovery of the patient. Student nurses are shown in Cyprus, Germany and Chelsea. A brief outline history is given as the film moves towards the Royal Pavilion at Aldershot, where training begins. Among other things shown is the uniform, designed by the Royal dressmaker, Norman Hartnell. The student nurses spend six weeks in Aldershot where they are shown being taught basic education, military education and first aid. State Registered Nurses are filmed spending a further eight weeks at Aldershot and State Enrolled Nurses in Colchester. The film suggests that young women who don't want to become nurses could become medical clerks or dental hygienists. Nurses are filmed training abroad in Hong Kong and Berlin. The film concludes by showing the nurses coming home for their final assessment and suggests that 'training with the army is the most rewarding and exciting way'.

I assume that the training for SRN was 3 years as it was for the civilian service.

Yes, you’re correct. It was 3 years for an SRN and 2 years for an SEN. If I remember correctly, a Pupil Nurse that failed their final SRN exam 2 could be offered the SEN exam and qualify at that grade of Nurse.
